ok then, I took my car in to get compliance work done, the engineer rang me this morning and told me they can't do it because the seats are too high, the bonnet is fiberglass and my wheels may be too big.

Is that normal? I though for compliance all they did was put the bars in and do seatbelts and mirriors and that then write the certificate for the work they did?

anyone else had problems due to modifications?

where is the work being done? who is the engineer? is the car a 15yo import? it does sound reasonable as these modifications may contravene the relavent ADRs.
