Burnout Squad Gone CraZy!!!

Ok if you thought the police threatening to impound your car from someone complaining about dangerous driving or breaking tracktion ( without the police actually catching you in the act.) was a load and they couldn't do that then your mistaking.

My wheels broke tracktion a week ago nothing serious just a little squeel around the corner didn't even mean to do it and left a fait mark on the road nere my college and someone from the comunity complain about it and called the police and told them my number plates, then today the police came to my school and told me that i can either give them the keys to my car or i could drive it to the impound lot myself and now it's sitting there right now.

So i had to take my car to the impound lot and park it with all the other skylines that have been taken i just wanna warn everyone that it can happen and they're cracking down on it, i just don't want anyone to loose their baby for 3 months like i did.

Dude they cant just take your car because someone said they saw you leave tracks. you only need to deny it and they cant touch you or your car. At the very least they would need a statuatory declaration, signed by the person who claims to have seen you do it, they'd then need to find a witness who was petty enough to agree to sign it also............THEN after you denied it, it would have to go to court, and even then, at the end of the day, its your word against theirs.

so if i were you i'd go get a lawyer and promptly have your car given back to you, but if you were dumb enough to admitt doing it then its your own fault if it stays in there.

Yer i guess thats all true but they said the guy gave a statement and the mark left on the road was enough evidence to take my car and i wasn't allowed to do anything about it and no i have never been caught for a burnout and my car has never been in the impound lot before.

ROAD TRANSPORT LEGISLATION AMENDMENT ACT 2000 - SECT 2

subsection 5B, burnout legally means 'a sustained loss of traction from one or more wheels' this deifintion is essentially the same for NSW. Now, a 'faint mark on the road' doesnt not constitute as a sustained action. Yeah, maybe a chirpy or premature release of the clutch or something.

Division 2.3 goes on the explain impounds, and gives similar reference points to NSW Act.

Interestingly, it states in in s10(B), that a cop can impound ur car if on the road or any other public place, however, if your car is on private property, they can only impound it through the court, as covered in s10(a).

“10B Powers of police officers to seize and impound vehicles used in committing certain offences (MTA s 139K, NSW RT(Gen) s 39)

“(1) A police officer may seize a motor vehicle if—

(a) the police officer believes on reasonable grounds that the vehicle is being or has (on that day or during the past 10 days) been used by a person in committing an offence against section 5A (Races, attempts on speed records, speed trials etc) or 5B (Burnouts and other prohibited conduct); or

(B) the vehicle is subject to impounding or forfeiture under section 10A (Impounding or forfeiture of vehicles used in committing certain offences).

So yeah, personally, you guys that have had ur car impounded aint as innocent as you'd like to make out on here.

It must of been a bit bigger than a slight loss of traction.... e.g I do a 5-6g launch and smoke em, theres bearly a mark...

Ewan that was completely un called for and not relevant! I honestly believe (given that I know members of the traffic squad here and in Syd) that they are taking cars in an attempt to show some muscle. The "60 Minutes" and "Daily tele" campaigns have put an image in the public eye that is a complete misrepresentation!

I agree that if you get caught doing a burnout then hey you got caught... However this new system of officer Joe Blow caling in a burnout is ridiculous!

C'mon now.... marks are caused by a little bit more than "an accidental churp".

Even with a brass button I don't think I've ever left a mark without meaning to.

Hey i didnt say my car woulndt go spaztic all over the road... Spose depending on the tyres softness.... But it pisses me off sometimes i go for this big ass burnout and theres not much mark to show for it..

I just dropped my mum off at work just then in erindale..

Stopped in the Taxi Zone for bout 5.6seconds and as i went to leave cops were like "YOU SEE YOU OVER THERE"

Parked the car, and they fully inspected the car... took my licence and worte a Sh!t load of stuff in some book... Using my licence, car details, reg sticker......

fair enough if i cant park in the Taxi zone... but i mean a quick stop... and they Full inspect the car, ask me heaps of questions about myself and the car.. Y?

My Tires on my car are 80 dollar peaces of crap and they leave marks very easy and i didn't drop the clutch or anything i will admit i did go around the corner a little fast but i didn't think it deserved my car to be taken but it happend and i em just gonna wear it unless someone can give me some advice?

well yea by the looks of things, they are coming down on everything... so just gotta be careful in future.. you got $80 tyres... DUDE! your car is better in the pound than off the road and into a pole... When you get your car back... get some decent tyres.. thats my advice.

Yer they were just to get me over rego when i had no money haha and i was getting new tyres on the weekend but not anymore
