GTR33 Compression Test, high?? help plz!?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

i have a stock 1998 GTR33 v-spec w only an exhust, filters & FMIC

last night ,i was changing my spark plugs, n i thought id do a Compression Test! so here are the readings:

6- 168

5- 175

4- 176

3- 172

2- 173

1- 175

according to the Nissan RB26 manual, it says that new it should be 171 psi and the lower limit should be around 128 psi..

is this normal? all the #s are a bit higher than stock ones, except cylinder # 6 which is kinda lower.(is that bad) ?

any ideas??

thanx

Make sure you'r doing it at WOT, so you get full compression on the guage as it take's a while to go up.

You have to crank it for a while, so its best to disconect injectors or coil pack's, and thoes figure's look fine ;)

Better higher than low!

Ye nothin to worry about...

Ive seen cars makin good power wit 145psi across most cyl's, and urs is way above that!

Sounds like a good condition engine to me, not 100% sure why cyl 6 is lower but someone will give u reasons (ie Sydney Kid..) lol
