Hey all, new to this forum

Im looking to buy an r32 very soon (have to sell my car first) and I have already ear marked two, although I have some questions to ask about each.

The first car is a black 2 door GTS-t with 85,000kms. It is Automatic and is uncomplied. They are asking $6,900 for it. If i was to buy this car I would swap it to manual almost instantly, which I could get done for around $1,200. Compliance on top of that would be around $750.

That takes the driveaway price of this car to $8,850.

OR

The second car - it is a 4 door GTS-t with 90,000kms. Silver in colour and is manual. The price on this is $7,500 uncomplied. With compliance that would take its price to about $8,500 (4 doors cost mroe to comply).

I would like to mention that both cars are completely stock (which in my eyes is good as it indicates a lack of thrashing).

So I am caught in two minds as to which one to decide on.

I am looking for some opinions, taking into account the info I have provided on both cars.

Thanks

I think compliance will be more around $1500 (it was for my R32 GTR - and there is no reason a GTR would cost more to comply than a GTST). Compliance for the 4-door would be even more because that's 2x the intrusion bars.

Which one is in better condition?

More importantly, do you want 2 or 4 doors?

Prices seem about right.

Yeah I have been quoted 750 for the compliance on the 2 door. If the upper control arm bushes ae good enough, the guy said it coud even get it done for just 450. i doubt this though.

And yeah, the 4 door will be more expensive becuase of the extra 2 doors.

The fact that the 2 door is an auto isnt a problem, it jsut mans i will have to swap it to manual. As for the 4 door, the only thing that puts me off it is that it jsut looks too damn plain. Plain old silver, no spoiler, and the interior is also much plainer than the 2 door. It has a different front bar to the 2 door though. I have a feeling the 4 door may be a type M? How can you tell between a type M and just a normal r32? Is the front bar any different? And what are the other difference performance wise and brakes etc?

Here is a pic of each - are any of these type M?

Don't pay too much attention to cosmetics.

Front bar you can change later

Spoiler you can change later

As long as there isn't any rust to worry about.

Yeah consmetics dont bother me too much, its more the performance i am concerned about. I know the normal GTS-t goes quite well but i just wanna know if there are any differences between that and the type M. I heard the type M has a ballbearing turbo that boosts up harder and bigger brakes etc.

What I was askig about the front bar is how do you tell if it is type M? IS that 4 door a type M, becuase its front bar looks different?

    • Howdy all,   I had my rb25det S2 rebuilt and finally started it today but have run into a few issues  Engine sounds like a a diesel easiest way to summarise like small ticking, gets louder when revs are slightly adjusted  The engine builder repainted the engine cover leaving no where for me to go off with lining up the CAS so have it as central as possible so not sure it that could be affecting it?, changed the gearbox fluid too but won’t seem to go into gear when running, and only 1 to 4 when off having a hard time finding 5th and reverse anyone got any ideas or a base for me to start off? much appreciated
    • Well, no. It's an 023, which is pretty similar to an 040. Although it is hard to tell from the specs, as given.
    • Hmm. Maybe the (other thing I forgot about!) Haltech removes at least some, if not all, of the problem I described. I guess there is still the possibility of getting it wrong if the AC is set up/wired up for the Haltech as if it was in an R34 (simply because it's on a Neo), and that's playing foul with the R32 AC computer.
