I'm currently debating between an HKS GT-RS turbine kit for my rb25det from nengun.com... kit comes with everything to be a complete bolt on affair....

... or, t3/t4 (don't know what a/r, etc)... if i did the t3/t4 route... what would i need to replace my current turbo with the new one? i.e. oil lines, water lines, gaskets, fittings, elbows, etc....

Im just trying to decide whether or not i should spend 2000 on an HKS GT-RS or half that on a t3/t4

I need to know every piece neccessary to replace the rb turbo with a t3/t4 before i can make my decision

I'm in a similar situation. I wanted a turbo that bolts up to the stock manifold and was deciding between the HKS RS and a garret GT30 (T3 flange) with internal wastegate that supposedly ' bolts on' but after some research oil lines are different, some plumbing is required for intercooler pipes and you need a spacer to clear the stock manifold. All of these mods plus the GT30 would end up costing more than the overall cost of the GTRS kit which includes ALL fittings to bolt straight up including oil lines.

You can check this turbo out here: http://www.horsepowerinabox.com/HPIAB2/cat...ategory12_1.htm

Although the GT30 is rated at 500hp and the GTRS only 400hp, I have never heard a bad thing about the GTRS but I have heard that the GT30 is considerably more laggy... Apparently it is easy to get (i have an R34 neo) 240rwkw with not much over 1 bar with the GTRS and I have heard of up to 282rwkw with cams (not sure what spec) again on a NEO engine. If this kind of power is not potentially enough then I guess look at a larger externally wastegated turbo.

I'm going to be getting the GTRS in the coming months - I'm waiting because i'll also need fuel pump + injectors (another $1200+)

Hope this helps :)

if you've got cams (as per your sig) the GT-RS should be a real treat on your engine. based on the graphs, hks comparions charts and stuff anyway. with the t3/t4 it could be a bit of guess work. also the gt-rs has been proven and tested so you'd know how much power you'd get. check out RB25 dyno thread in forced induction, theres at least 1 guy with GT-RS on rb25det
