Any chance that someone who's a member can show us the full article..

PLEASE!!.

I am member but sharing arctiles would put my account at risk. It is worth the $30 a year for an article every day.

They put one on a Galant VR4. It dropped off full boost a bit but this was probaly to size of the turbo was too small for that boost.

so dont worry b2 nobodys gonna tell on you, pinky promise!

hmm my car is still broke... i still havnt used the turbotech to 'boost' my car...

Please can someone post an install for an r33 rb25det!!!

I have been using the high boost solenoid mod until now, and was wondering if thats whats not letting me run the controller right???

Ive tried, but cant get the controller working right, and do not want to ruin anything

Please help me get my car running a bit more boost:)

Thanks

when installing on the R33 RB25DET do the following:

1. find the bronze/copper T piece that has 3 vacuum hoses attached to it one from the manifold, one to the solenoid, one to the turbo.

2. remove this T piece by twisting the crap out of the hoses till you have the 2 free hoses, one from the manifold, one to the turbo.. leave the T piece attached to the solenoid hose, you don't need this anymore..

3. plug the following:

vacuum hose coming from manifold -> bottom of unit

vacuum hose going to turbo -> side of unit

look at the picture!

Finished drawing it:

RB25DET_install.bmp

there you go.. that's all you need.. pressure comes from manifold, passes through bleed valve if the boost is enough, heads to the turbo (wastegate controller) and opens the wastegate to vent..

good luck..

Hey all,

I bought one of these little babies Friday last week, Mark had it to me by Tuesday. Excellent service, and it is as well made as all the other posts say it is.

Anyways, I bought some extra vacuum tube to fit it away from prying eyes in my R33, so i ended up ditching the stock 3" length of vacuum hose coming off the side of the inlet pipe (next to the airfilter).

I kept the T-piece and solenoid hose in place and fed another new section of vacuum hose to it, (from the other end of the Turbotech so it looks neater), so all that's visible is a vacuum hose running fron the inlet pipe, under my pod filter, and back up the other side to hook into the T-Piece.

Plumbed it all in and took her for a spin, and I was still hitting 5-6 psi (stock), so I wound the screw up a little bit and hey presto- Non-spiking 10 psi at about 2700 rpm.

As for the solenoid, I tried it plugged in and unplugged and didn't notice anything really different, so I left it inplugged.

Effectively my set up is exactly as shown in this link...

Someone's making a nice little bit of money..

Personally I prefer it out of the solenoid but I guess - whatever rocks your boat.. than again i'm only running 0.6Bar anyways.. where as the stock car runs about 0.66Bar.. but atleast it's spooled up by about 2,500 rpm..

had it up at about 0.75Bar but was finding the car would R&R..

Hey guys, still having a few issues with the tap........ive manage to get it to run w/o any spikes......but i dont think its working as its not raising any boost?running stock (reading from the factory gauge)???i'll post pics tommorow. By the way would the high boost mod have anything to do with this???

Just out of curiousity, +3.5 on the factory r33 boost gauge (where +7 is the max) would be how much boost in PSI????

Pull the controller apart and ensure the spring isn't caught on anything.

Mine has done this once resulting in no boost increase.

It actually occured because i backed off the controller then wound it back in, for some reason there was no tension on the spring as I could easily blow and suck through the in nozzle of the boost controller.

Obviously the IN is the nozzle that runs inline with the bolt adjuster thinga majig.

Cheers guys, just to make sure, when these rb25's spike, is it like a mad missing sort of noise that occurs?, cause i've wounded my boost down heaps so i get no spiking, but the other day when i turned it up a bit, second gear would run till the higher revs, where a missing/popping sound will occur....is this Spiking or something elsE?

Its definitely not a good sound:)

    • A little more work this week.  Fitted astra power steering pump in the boot with a lowe fabrication bracket. Gave the pump a good clean, fitted Anderson plug and high pressure fitting. With the intercooler being flipped under rad support factory headlights weren't going to work. Ordered a set of origin battle lights, they arrived so got them test fitted. Will require some fiddling to fit nice but was an easy quick option for now. And today we pulled out the manual Rb gearbox and test fitted a ZF 8HP50. It will fit with some casting tabs cut off and small tap of the tunnel with a hammer. Pick up the adapter plate Wednesday so hopefully all bolted in Friday and measure for tailshaft which will be a 2 piece. Been doing a lot of ecu, pdm and tcu loom design so when comes to wiring it in a few weeks will all go smoothly.
    • FYP. Sadly. Even bolt cutters wouldn't take 2 sec. But in the days of 18v angle grinders, nothing is safe.
    • One piece driveshaft I would recommend a dual CV setup otherwise stick to OEM. I have heard most one piece driveshafts cause excess vibration otherwise. The transmission grind I'm quite familiar with. You can try shockproof gear oil, otherwise you need a new transmission. The shifter is extremely simple on these cars. If you want pull apart the assembly and replace the plastic bushing but I doubt that fixes anything. The tail light issue is very common, unfortunately new tail lights are long discontinued. The trunk antenna going up always is because your radio doesn't have a true power antenna control, just remote amp power signal. There is a blank switch plate that you can pop out and install a switch for this or alternatively source a head unit that has proper antenna control. Throttle body sticking you have to disambiguate by disconnecting the cable and seeing if the linkages are the problem or something else. There is a procedure to adjust them, refreshing them is also somewhat involved if that's the issue. I have dealt with many of these issues. Old cars really are fractals of problems. The more you fix the more you discover there is to fix.
    • Welp, you've got a long list of experiences right there. I'd say you're on the right path.
    • That's correct, suits my requirements a bit better. Sure there are also numpties there, however it's generally a different vibe and more my kind of vibe.
