MM i thought the jrdsports ones were just cheap rip offs of marks ones? As in just replicas, no effort put into them just a design stolen.. Thats what i thought anyway..

Indeed. f**k this other bloke who has ripped off Mark's design, I know I'll stay a loyal customer to him - he makes an excellent product and was the original innovator!

I just received one of these last night. hooked it up to my s14 this morning, and can't seem to get it to sit at 8psi.. i'm scared that if i wind it out too far, that the bolt will fall out. does anyone else have this problem?

Brian.

guess you didnt read that they have a minimum of about 2psi higher than stock boost. if ur wastegate is 7psi, you wont be able to get much less than about 9psi.

if u wind it out too far you will get stock boost or boost leak/running rich/shit depending in the screw you wind out no longer seals the air

if ur getting it to 9/10 then its probably working right. do you have a fmic, and what boost source are you using? when it spikes to 10, does it then come back to 9? does it do it more in low gears than higher gears?

i've got fmic.

thats how its been set up. (i know clips are on, its for illustration purposes). the red pipe goes to the fmic piping.

i'm pretty sure that it doesn't go back to 9. it'll just keep creeping up. its hit 12 before i've backed off.

the boost source should be the bottom, opposite bolt. the middle one goes to wastegate

the boost source should be as close to turbo compressor outlet as possible. u might get spiking if its on the manifold side of a bit fmic

Firstly I must say props to SirMark. I had my controller delivered within 3 days of the direct deposit, great service :)

Secondly, it works brilliantly. Boost builds beautifully and holds really well. On my RB20DET it hits 14psi at about 3500rpm, I think but it might be a bit lower. Boost tapers off to 12psi when the revs get up to 5000-5500ish but that's obviously just the turbo maxing out its efficiency.

All plumbed in nicely now, still works 100%. Amazing little controller and an absolute bargain at this price. I've since fixed all the missfire issues it caused (Note that it wasn't the controller's fault, missfires were from coils/plugs not holding up under the extra airflow from higher boost) and the car feels great.

Props to Mark for a great MBC.

Ben.

    • It's something we all have to consider as time marches on. Also consider lifted rally MX5 conversion at that point.
    • I should be fine for a few more years, whilst I do have arthritis I also exercise and do mobility training every day to keep as fit and healthy as I can, military life, which is the actual cause of most of my joint issues, has set daily regimes, which I weirdly enjoy I also train alot smarter now, not really focusing on lots strength or puffy muscles, I'm more focused on maintaining what I have for my future older self, I actually train as much mobility now as I do exercising Check out this "simple" drill I have been doing daily prior to training now for a while now, this has worked wonders in my all round mobility
    • I'd say one thing that may make you sell is the same reason the guy with the hard top roof sold his. He got old, and his back was giving him too much grief stopping him getting in and out... Old guy said he was 73! He looked and sounded younger than 73 to me! Or maybe I'm just aligning with old people more...
    • Already looked at a few prior to getting the MX5, really nice car, had all the mod cons, but I wasn't really sold on the new "look" I did miss my 2017 Limited, and I personally prefer the "look" of the older car over the new model, but, when pondering I kept going back looking at MX5's But it was same same for the new ND's, I wasn't sold on the new "look", especially the RF with its weird roof, which only half goes down, like a targa top sort of thing As I stated before, I did look at NC's, but the cars I looked at were PRHT's, but I didn't like their roof line "look" of the PRHT, until I saw the soft top version, (someone on SAU posted a for sale ad for one with a soft top that caught my attention, you can blame them for my choice.....🤣) and.... that old style detachable hard tops were available for them, which keeps the old MX5 more smoother flowing roof line, and the more rounded body style, similar to the NA-NB, to me, the arse end of the ND looks to "modern" Much like how I prefer the NC1 front bar, over the later models How long will I keep this car for is unknown, but currently, there's nothing else out there that "floats my boat" for a small, fun, little "sports car", that I can play with and enjoy looking at and driving But, who knows what the future holds, and going off current new car styling, if I replace it, it will be a older model something something
