Hi guys..

2 days ago while i was driving around i felt my stering whel started to get hardened up on me and i also noticed that the hicas lite came on at around 60kmph and flashing... i also found out that my Speddo and ODO meter are not working either :) This morning i try to start the car and it dint.. i've got a RSM and it was showing between 9.6 and 10.1 Volts. So i took it to my mechanic and tthey replaced the Alternator . but my steering wheel is stil get hard after 3-5 mins of driving and HICAS light turns on with it..

The mechanic checked the wire to the gearbox for the odo and speedo .. abd they were fine and he said it might be my Dash. ???!?!!

I have got a after marker Steering wheel and Boskit so i have disconnected the HICAS module (3 years ago)

I was wondering if any of you guys had this problem. and iwould like to now the solution if there is any..

Cheers Guys.

Theevil, i do have a Blitz Supersonic BOV , but wat does it have to do with the power steer and ODO problem??

GTTR34 - Yeah everything else is working properly. and i also check all the fuses but they wer all OK. by the way my mech said that this model dash is a mechanical speddo and odometer dash. I called ADVAN in Sydney and Mr. "RipOff" Peter Hopkin said for the cable he charges me $180 + $90p/h Labor :P

Anyways.. thats news so far.

Thanks guys.. for ur attention to this thread.

try looking at these thread

i think the reason why your car does cut off when driving is because your BOV is atmospheric and does not 'plumb back'. Skylines have sensitive air flow meters

What do I know? SFA but I do know the hicas is linked to the speed of your vehicle and that when hicas cuts out so does power steering as mine does when it gets wet:rant: I solved this by spraying lanosol on the connectors and it stopped but dont think this is your problem. It sounds like a speedo/wiring sort of thing but I know SFA.

ok thank u guy.. i think i might get the Speddo Cable fixed first then ill see if its ganna fix the hicas problem by doing this so.

Cheers again guys...  :D

Fixing the speedo cables should take care of the HICAS and power steering weight issue, have a look at my post in this thread:

MRPREZ,

Hey dude, I've got the same problem as you. Sometimes at night, when i turn on some music, and then i turn on the heater, HICAS comes on AND the Steering wheel hardens up too. However, I changed the battery and everything is all sugar.. So try that out..

    • Ha ha ha, mine loves to spend, all on the dogs (they're our kids, and her spending would likely rival that of some people raising children!) the only benefit is, her spending is tax deductible as she runs a business in the dog industry 😛 The above all means she can spend race car budget quicker than I can. 😛 That and a lot of the things I want are very expensive, and I can be a bit "you want how much for that?!" And at other times overly impulsive. Or I start the w days of research, get to day 1.5 and get really annoyed that no one will advertise actual specifics and it's just marketting BS and I go "well, now I don't want anything to do with that now!" Also I hate paying lots of money for something I can make from $50 in materials. Then I get the shits halfway through making things and wonder why others who just buy parts have more fun... 😛
    • Their 240Z with the RB26 would be a real nice thing to have in a garage to come out for an occasional weekend cruise It's such a cool thing in so many ways Sadly, we have a blue 240Z shell that I walk past every day, just sitting outside a shed at work, it has been slowly disintegrating and falling apart into the ground for the last few years, the owner cannot be found, and I am unable to "claim it" I've been told by work and the RMS, the rust in the body is excessive though, and it has had most of the salvageable stuff, like panels, trim and switch gear stripped off it over the last year or two, work keeps threatening to put it in one of our metal scrap bins, I wish they did though, as it makes Mark sad walking past it
    • Good tips, I like it! 😂😂 My wife is a LOT more frugal than me so it's only me we need to worry about! A splurge to her is buying 2 pairs of socks in one visit at Kmart!
    • Haha, the appropriate response to the question "Is this new?" is "I've had this for a while.". With the unspoken small print that a while may be the time since this morning or five years ago   And to be fair I learned that from the best, i.e. my wife. Because it goes both ways.
    • Yeah kids certainly add a whole another dimension to your life.  Life ceases to be about you and more about them for a while!  And I wouldn't have it any other way.  I love watching them play sport and make new friends along the way. Wow, sounds like your mate is a good guy to know!!!  He's got some serious toys in the toy box!  Yes it would be lovely to be able to do stuff to your car without getting all tied up in boring shit like how to pay for it!!  I would describe my spending style as "aggressively spontaneous and logical but regrettable purchasing"....  That will hopefully make no sense at all which would be appropriate given that is how I buy stuff.  I'll decide at the drop of a hat that I'm buying something expensive, research the living shit out of it for 2 days straight then go out and buy it.  Then I'll have instant buyers remorse for 2 days which generally passes by the time it turns up on the front step!  If I'm feeling ballsy sometimes I'll tell my wife.  Other times it just makes its way silently passed the house and out the back to the shed, never to be spoken of again...
