Hey guys,

i went on to add some bendix ultimate brake pads to my 33, as suggested to me by heaps of ppl. Only thing is they squeak like hell! i know that the pads have more than average metal in them which prob causes them to squeak, but i was wondering if anyone has this prob?

We even took them off after 4 days driving and added anti sqeak paste which did bugger all apart from waste like 2hours of my time lol

any help would be great! and perhaps a pad brand replacement cause the way these pads are going im gonna bin em soon lol

I have bendix in mine, made sure the disks were machined nice and flat also.

The bedding in instructions are on the packet, 7-9 hard stops from 60kph to 2kph, then cruise for a bit to let them cool down so you dont bake the resin etc. I made sure I kept the anti-squeal plates in them too, there are 2 thin backing plates, and a small clip over the side of the pad/plate combo to keep them aligned. There should be one clip each for the inner and outer pads.

Have you also got the stock nissan anti-squeal plates aswell, without them they will squeal.

Paul, I got those, still squeal. Machined rotors, still did it.

What happens is they burn in and harden.the compound that is. when you install them you are not ment to run them in first time they are on.

Caminperth: will try again this time around, actually when its not raining as my abs isnt working for some reason and dont want to lock up and scratch another dam rim.

GTS-t VSPEC: Yeah still have the nissan anti-squeal plates.

Jordan: we tried that, but i guess will have to give it another shot!

I had the disc machined added the anti squeal paste. Thanks for your help guys! will try and bed them in this week, or when the weather gets alittle dryer.

This is a long running problem for myself..... I had the ultimate pads and a disc machine - squealed after 1 week. Had them machined again and put advance pads..... squealed after 1 week... I think the next step is some dba slotted rotors..... My mate tried the cheap remtek premium pads in his 33 and has had no probs 'yet'. If you find a solution let me know...... There is nothing like rocking up somewhere in your line and making an entrance like an off tune opera singer :P

Yeah the noise is bad, people look at you at the lights and think what the F*ck is wrong with this guys brakes!!

I want to upgrade to DBA but will do later when i change turbo etc, bigger power gain than now, thats when i will need them as its my weekend car.

Ill be getting something done about them hopefully next few days and will let you know SL33kGTS. By the way i saw your car recently at a BP petrol station in Morley area, 1 hell of a ride! Nice job

yeh bed those suckers.. hard!.. i had lucas.. which i assume is similar.. and they squeeled like a bitch for ages.. i did try to bed them in initially but i guess i mustn't have done it very well.. but after 1 track day.. they were fine..quiet as anything.. and that was a lot of braking and on a super hot day..

Hi guys, my rotors were bad at the front, the brake guy told me coz I was at my minimum the pads how ever new or waht type will make the noise.....

I am at 27mm will get some new ones soon , will let you know.

He said to me new thick pads and worn rotors will vibrate more then new and new or ( worn rotors nad worn pads).

so there you go...

will let you know soon.

Based on the general concensus of "bed those suckers in hard", i decided to try it out.... But obviously with no access to a race track, the Reid Hwy late at night was the closest thing. I got her up to about one fitty and did some supercar braking about 5 times.... i know they got hot cos my discs started to glow hahaha. After brake-fade i decided to end it there and let it all cool down. When to work this morning and "kapow" its all good!!! usualy they squeal worst when cold, but nothing at all..... BRILLIANT. My pads are only a week old so i pressume its all part ot the bedding in procedure.

So there you go..... you now all have a reason to pretend your peter brock for half an hour

Hope they haven't cracked....under 150 than 600c in 3sec.....

Thats what made me change a set of new ultimates for another new set....

Nah... they will be ok.... i had they ultimate pads and they were no good for my disc... didnt stop, made noise etc. The advance pads are about 1/2 as hard so they make a bit more dust but dont glaze the disk.....

Beside, why does nissan put such large brakes on the cars???

This is uncanny!!!! I just got all of my brake pads replaced on Monday with "Green Stuff" and they squeak like hell!!!!! I came on the forums to post and see what you guys had to say - but you've already discussed it - wow!!!

I've already had some compound put on them - but it didn't help much. I will be trying the "bed it in" theory as soon as the weather dries up then! I'l let you all know how it goes.
