Hey guys,

I've tried a search but it doesnt seem to be working on this computer.

Anyway, thought i'd post up here to get some help.

I have an Rb20E R33, now will its gearbox bolt up to an Rb20det? will i need to get new engine mounts? Does this engine require engineering in this car?? Would the brakes do?? I have new 18" rims so i dont really wana change the pattern.

Secondly, If i got an Rb25det, would the gearbox bolt up again? Does this engine need engineering in the car?? I do realise break upgrade is a must here however.

Also, Do SR20det 180sx's or silvias have bigger brakes then the NA r33?? If so could i just grab those brakes, as the studd pattern is the same.

Thanks again guys.

Any help appreciated.

I am not sure about the engine details (but with the commonality between most nissan parts ie. 32/33/34/300zx - i cannot see why not), but with the brakes...

I am in the process of upgrading brakes. I have opted to go with 32GTST (as that was what

was available to me) but 33 items bolt up just as easily too.

If you just got new rims, then you can either get the rotors re-drilled or order 4 studed rotors.

If you are doing an engine conversion it is advisable to upgrade the brakes.

Being NA, there are twin pot calipers front and (single?) pot rears.

total of 6 pots on the car with small contact area.

upgrading will give me 4 pot fronts and twin pot rears... a total of 12 pots.. and a far greater contact area. Thicker and slotted rotors is not a bad idea either.

Try a search on the calipers/rotors/studs...

hope that helps

:)

The gearbox will be fine i have been told aslong as i dont thrash it..

Its only an rb20det, so its not as if im upgrading to a rb25det..

Does anyone know about engineering??

I think i will just upgrade the front brakes if i go ahead with it.. My mate did it and he got away with doing that, so i dont see why i wouldnt.

Thanks 4 the replies.. If anyone knows about engineering it'd be a great help.

in queensland under its modifacation laws u would not require any engineering as its a replacement optional engine for that car, any bolt on modifications, brakes, that do simply bolt on also do not require engineering.

The gearbox will bolt up and so will the engine mounts.
