Well Sat... damn early start @ 8am in Attwood.

But let me tell you, i dont think i have ever spent the $135 or whatever it was any better before.

I would like to thank Pete - Bass Junky, who organised the Defensive Drivers Course with Kevin Flynn from Driver Dynamics

Was a sensational day with the perfect mis of theory and practical.

Im sure with the huge success there will be more organised.

So if you missed out i highly advise you to do this.

Learning to stop from 60km/h in under 20 meters in the wet is something i certainly couldnt do before.

Should come as a great assest a lot of the things that we learnt.

thanks again Kev and Pete :P

Yeah big thanks to Pete for organising such a great day, certianly brings a few things to your attention!! main thing being how badly an uneffective your braking really is (at the start of the day:)). Certainly look forward to next driving day to be organised!, might even have some decent tyres & and brakes by then.

:P

I definatly would encourage ALL drivers to do this course, big eye opener, great day and well worth the money.

I agree..

The Honda loved the skid pan :P

Next time we should organise a bit more of an advanced course with cornering techniques and stuff. I don't know about you guys but i haven't had alot of teaching in this area especially.

We really should have taken a proper camera guys!

Hey guys.

Well, I think I can safely say that the Skid pan was probably the best fun I've had in my car.

What a buzz.

The drvier training was very informative and I did learn some things about braking that's for sure.

Thanks for those who participated, you have made the roads that little bit safer.

To those who didn't come, well you missed out. It was a great day, and I'm sure the advanced drivers course will be even better.

I think I feel a skid pan day coming though!!

BASS OUT

Methods of applying the brakes, pressures etc.

I have ABS and I found that there is far too much lock built into the ABS on my car. I out braked the ABS in the second session.

It does help though when turning and braking at the same time.

I was about to brake from 65 kph whilst changing lanes in the wet in about 20 meters.

Yeah ABS is fairly cool. I had my ABS fail 3 out of 4 times however (97 series 2).

The idiot light would come on and the ABS system wouldn't come on when you braked.

Will need to check it out, maybe others should check their systems too?

I just assumed mine works fine, guess it doesn't :)

was there a skid pan used, or just standard straight line or swerve. ive done the basic course before, waiting for skid pan tho.

Was a combination of all three. The following real life experiences were convered

- Stopping from 50/55/60/65km/h in wet in 20meters

- Hard break from 60km/h in wet, swerve and stop in 20 meters

- Hard break from 60km/h in wet, swerve, swerve again and clear in about 35 meters (pretty sure)

- Skid pan exercise. Loose the rear end and learn to regain control and traction

Thanks for a great day Guys.

Great group to work with (which always makes our job easier)

 Cheers from Kev, James, and Kurt.

Thank you Kev, James and Kurt for putting up with us for the day and teaching us those valuable skills... i used to think i could stop in the wet but how wrong was i...

look forward to seeing you guys in the advanced driving course..
