mehh... talk about a string of bad luck, first my rims got stolen and TONIGHT. Got pulled over by TMU on king st. Luckily the copper was ONE of the nicest i had to deal with. Went through my car, told me my tyres were wearing thing on the inside and he told me it was actually not roadworthy. Didnt say much, saw the bleed valve, intercooler and filter, didnt say much too.

Let me off after 5 mins. No warning and no CANARY..... now i am afraid that there will be a letter from the EPA soon. What do u guys think? TMU and no fine? no canary? Am I that lucky? Usually how long does it take to receive the letter from EPA if there is one.

ive been pulled over a few times and it wasnt for car related stuff eg random breath test etc.

and they didnt even look at my car.

As they say though - "We aren't in Kansas anymore" - Melbourne is an entirely different kettle of fish to Perth in terms of vehicular "law enforcement"

he means u arent in a state that uses import drivers as a source of revenue... u see we have a seperate tax here in which import drivers are told to pay every now and then and sometimes repeatedly throught out each year.

That happens to me all the time.

Pulled over, basic licence and rego check, they tell me I should attention some things (usually AVCR) - then they let me go. No problem.

Again showing being polite and courteous doesn't hurt, and that it's a few overzealous officers that give the Police a bad image. The majority use this positively human trait called 'judgement'.

That said - I'm quite pleased not to have driven Golgo to Coles on Saturday night.

Being polite doesn't garner much leeway in a blitz.

This is true too - I've had some very good cops pull me up.

There have been some bad ones too but unfortunately the bad ones tarnish people's perceptions rather more than good ones

Yeah this cop was quite cool, obviously he knows everything abt skylines;

Nice cop: "This is a RB25DET yeah"

me: yup

Nice cop: "ooo.. bleed valve, stock turbo, original bov, shiny intercooler, your tyres are a bit worn on the inside"

me: "oh really"

NC: "yeah, they are ACTUALLY not road worthy u know"

me: "really? so am i in trouble"

NC: "No-no not now, not really... back tyres seems ok, but u got no points for cleaniness" (my car was dirty)

me: "hahaha... yeah havent got around to wash it yet"

NC: "ok... well off you go"

and Nark, my exhaust wasnt that loud, has it tested awhile back ago and was 88db.

    • yeah I have brown peeking out from in between some metal sheets close to the hood hinges. Strut towers look fine, even around the edges. some images https://imgur.com/a/brGt3Tu the one that looks the worst is the panel(s) going away right near the firewall on the passenger side, from underneath. Driver side does not look that bad.
    • I presume you are talking about a C34? Have you seen the buyers guide? https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/92065-buyers-guide-the-nissan-c34-stagea/ It's what got me to sign up to the forums when I bought mine. What kind of insight are you after? Up front I'd probably suggest to not get tempted by the poverty-spec models. I can't imagine a RB20DE to be engaging to drive in a 1600kg car.
    • yeah I try to be positive. Time will tell what becomes of it. Realistically my only other choice than to just deal with all the issues is to walk away and just sell it agai, at a loss.     I know a fair bit about these cars and knew before buying. I will try to deal with the rusty spots without tearing apart the metalwork for now. Sooner or later I probably will have to bite the bullet and do (or ge done) the arguably worst job an a 33/34 Skyline.
    • I'm aware that you can sink endless amounts of money into an engine. I don't want that kind of engie though. My power goal is 500, maybe 600hp at the max. I can get by with the nearly stock engine that I have now for that purpose and if it does need a rebuild at some point I would choose longer lasting components instead of the most ridiculously hp-rated ones. And do all the essentials of course.
