ASYLUM
well, as its my birthday this week i've been buying a few presents for the skyline... one of which was a new single din head unit to replace the factory abomination. i even managed to find the right pocket to fill the unsightly hole. i took it to a place near my work to get it 'professionally' installed and seeing as the manager owns a jap import, thought all would be well. went to check on the car at lunch as i had a feeling that the surround wouldn't be installed (something that always seems to happen whenever i have had stereo's installed). was talking to the installer, who upon first impressions seems not the most capable of people, and went over what needed to be done. as we did so i noticed that one of my switch covers in the dash was completely out of alignment with the dash... then noticed a few scratches on my dash, then some chips and then even chips and scratches on the right hand side of my steering column!! looks horrible now, well to me it does, i imagine we all look over our cars with the eye of an eagle. very unhappy with all of this and has put a right downer on a week that was going to be quite full of fun and modding. *sigh* ps. if anyone wants to know where i got it done PM me as i don't think i'm allowed to name the place on the forum. ASYLUM
yeah spoke to the manager, he said he'd front the bill for a replacement steering column but not the dash as he didn't know what was there before etc. still going to take time and money getting that sourced and installed spoke to docep and they said if i have witnesses to the state of the car beforehand then i might be able to sort something. a friend of mine worked in the chain of stores and i will see if i can get in touch with the state manager as the level of care taken is terrible and going by the install guide on here, they just had no idea whatsoever on what they were doing. :( Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/73779-disgruntled/#findComment-1354660 Share on other sites
shmiddy
that sucks dude, i recently to my care to a joint 2 weeks ago to get a new frount bar put on, it was also my birthday present, must be the birthday jinx, and when i came to pick it up i noticed the seat had been moved, so more then likly taken for a thrash, i also noticed burnout marks everywere leadin out of the joint and the corner it was on, when they sprayed it they got paint dust crap allover my car, and they guy who moved it in or out must of had paint on his hands cos it was all over my steering wheel and white paint on my door trim, then i drove of and they didnt fit my number plate, but hey the bumper looks a million bucks Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/73779-disgruntled/#findComment-1354884 Share on other sites
ASYLUM
hehe.. . well at the end of the day i ended up with having the stereo set into place properly, a replacement 'new' steering column and the dash got 'cleaned', not replaced though it had me fooled for a second and a bit of a discount. which all sounds fine apart from when you see the contradiction in their big poster of 'values' and the attitude i received, i'll be taking my business elsewhere. real happy with the stereo and i guess thats what matters but definately a bad start to my week, and a headache i didn't need. quink
yeh happens all the time.. that's why most of the time i prefer to do it meself.. i've taken my previous cars to panel beaters all the time to have it arrive back with extra scratches and stuff.. and the paint dying after a couple of months.. bloody pathetic.. R32Skyliner
Should give it a go yourself, decks aren't that hard to put in (unless its a tv or something with heaps of wires). I managed to put mine in ok and i'm crap when it comes to wiring. I guess it's a lesson for the future though. Bad luck with your car, hope it all looks good now. scags
Bummer dude, I'm researching a new stereo right now and am in two minds to do it myself so it gets done right. But I don't really have the time, so I am still 50/50 on taking it to a "professional". Can you PM me the name of the Store, I've got a feeling that it is the same store I was going to use? P.S. Happy Birthday. Scags Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/73779-disgruntled/#findComment-1362693 Share on other sites
mitchy_
if anyone needs a hand with deck installations, im willing to help me and my housemate have done quite a few deck/speaker/amp installs now, so its pretty much down pat, and a carton/bottle of something would cover the costs Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/73779-disgruntled/#findComment-1362755 Share on other sites
sexzila
I know how that feels, Sorry to hear it. From now on, I do everything myself! Only I have the love for my car, and nobody else!!! I hate people taking your money and earning a decent margin from the service on imports.... then they fruck you........ either with their greed or stupidity. Perth seems to have lots of both.
