Hey All,

I'm looking at buying a second hand R33 GTS-T Series II M-Spec Skyline, its being sold for $20000 with 60000km's which I think is alright? but I must admit I dont know all too much about the R33 Series II.

Also, as I am going to be new to owning a Skyline is there anything I should know or look out for when buying a second hand skyline? are there any common problems or unforseen costs that eventually pop up with these cars?

I'm really looking forward to owning my first skyline but I dont want it to send me broke! and i'll need money for modifications, so if there is any hidden costs generally associated with the R33 Series II or R33 GTS-Ts in general, could you guys post it up and let me know, the more feedback on buying a skyline the better ;)

CHEERS!! :)

they are a well made vehicle that require a oil change every 5000ks. I have changed my O2 sensor http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=43095 and gained some extra ltr/km apart from that I've had some minor electrical problems that seemed bad but were easily fixed. Look for anything you would normally look for.

:headspin: I know what you mean about modifying I go modify crazy!

I use to have a 97 Lancer GLi (i know i know) and I got the modifying bug with that, but when my brother got a WRX and I had a drive, I realised I wanted a turbo

Thanks for the help with the oil change info, and i'll check out that other post!

Anyone know who has the highest octane rating fuel?

Is it BP's 98 or Shell's Optimax?

or is there a fuel additive I should use (like avgas [but thats illegal]) to get the fuel running premium?

its shell at 98.6 but shell sux for sum reason it doesnt perform, octane isnt the only thing u shud be looking for in a fuel mate also 20grand for a series 2 with 60000kms is ok, id bargain them down to around 18 if possible any savings is well worth its weight in modifications

What fuel do you think is best for the Skyline - and what should I be looking for in the fuel ?

Yeah I am hoping to bargain down to around 18000 - 2000 worth of modifications to the engine bay would go down a treat!!

The general consensus is that BP Ultimate is the best, followed by Mobil 8000 ad then Optimax... But I have also noticed it varies from state to state... As far as I know (from what people have said on here) Optimax has additives in it to reach 98 octane where as bp and mobil are refined to 98... how true that is i don't know... but thats the general gist as far as fuel goes.

I agree with Rukus.

GTS-T0Y: I just sold my S1.5 R33 GTS-t my best advice is take someone with you that knows Skylines. Not knows them as in knows the visual difference between an R32 and R33 but someone that has either previously owned or currently owns the car you are looking at.

Way too many people get caught up in the "omg im buying a skyline" and forget to do the simple things.

Thanks for all your help - this has helped me immensely with my intention to buy a Skyline. Unfortunately I do not know anyone that has owned a Skyline as yet - WRX, 200SX, Pulsar GTi-R, but no skyline :D

I'll print off the Skyline (what to look for) notes that was supplied in another thread and referred to in one of the posts in this thread. As for fuel - i'd probably have to go Optimax because of the 4c p/litre off through Coles ;)

Unfortunately im sure you can all pledge that a 2.5L in line 6 turbo is going to eat fuel, esp if you have a heavy foot....

Thanks for all your help guys

:D

    • It's the adhesive holding the ceramic wheel to the shaft the fails on 90% of them.
    • Foreign debris, physical shock, boost leak, could be anything honestly. The danger in taking all the timing out of a tune/hitting the R&R corner is that even if the engine doesn't detonate your turbo is taking a lot of abuse from high EGT. Also, even if nothing goes wrong it is a journal bearing that is spinning at 100k RPM on boost. Eventually it goes through enough cold start/pressure cycles to wear it out.
    • I kinda accidentally saw this, and was interested, but It actually seems to replaces the whole center computer, using the existing screen and buttons. AND it may only be for a G37 and not compatible with a Japanese 370. So its not for me, but someone else may be interested to look into it. Its about $680USD. If I am understanding it right, it basically replaces/installs and android pc that integrates with the existing screen. But I could be wrong. https://gromaudio.com/vline/ The video I first saw was the following, with very little and unclear details.     Even if your not interested in the system, the video on their site was pretty comforting in showing how simple the whole centre comes out
    • hfygrte52 what side you looking for? Do you care what color car it's off? Found a white LH side on here: https://skylinespares.com.au/product/nissan-skyline-r33-coupe-rear-tail-light/   Aussie parts place but will ship to USA. Maybe get it before there's a tarrif on 25yo shit box parts
    • I’m with Shannon’s for all 5 of our cars. Agreed values seem fair, premium price is okay. ($210 ish a month, all comprehensive).  Have claimed once with them for a not at fault claim with another car where my car had no damage. Was one call after the incident and an email after. Deemed not at fault so premium didn’t go up either.    I have called up and spoken with people who are not familiar with certain cars and didn’t agree with me on value or let their personal vehicle preferences effect the call. But called back later and got someone else who was more agreeable.
