All bleed style boost controllers suffer from this problem. we have also found that boost drops off in top gear. Best way to solve this problem is to install Turbosmart E'Boost. E'Boost 1 is on special for $600 as new E'Boost has been released. They work prime with no spiking or boost bleed.

Mate, honestly I wouldn't even bother with a bleed valve. They all spike and suffer when trying to hold boost up the top of the rev range. Save your pennies and get a Turbo Smart E-Boost. They're on super sale at the moment for $600.00.

Remove the faulty bleed in the mean time.

yeh i was looking at them...they look pretty neat and have heaps of functions hey.

They have heaps of safety features which eliminate overboost, as well as excellent wastegate controll. you can keep gate closed for longer which brings boost on harder & faster. there are also outputs for launch control or N.O.S etc

Hey

what type of bleed valve do you have at the moment, so we no to stay clear of it :D ???

BTW is there a electronic boost controller.. that doesnt have heaps of functions and is realy cheap ? Paying like $400-600 for a boost controller is like half the cost of an ecu

I've just picked my self up a cheapo ball and spring type bleeder. Its not actually a bleeder, the knob adjusts the tension held on the ball.

Should work well as I've had a similiar type before which worked really nice.

its a TURBOXS boost controller, from SPEEDWORKS.....hey ZYMOTIC do you recon that boost controller is quality or dodgy???

Don't they have a little allen key in them to adjust spike? It may pay to have a look and if it does have a fiddle.

All styles of bleed valve are ugly. We are a turbosmart agent, there product is good but still suffers from boost spike. its just how bleed valves work. Im not sure what type of ecu you can buy for $1000, but if it controls engine management & boost, i suggest you buy it. ive been selling Haltech & Microtech for three years & they require stand alone boost controllers as an addition. Apexi ecu have boost control features , but by the time you pay for it, then upgrade air flow meter, you are spending good money. Trust me, E;Boost controllers are worth every dollar. Customers i have sod them too were the same as you until they drove the car after i fitted it, they were very impressed,

check out the article on autospeed.com.au and do a search on 'audi boost', i think it is a norgen setup boost controller.... i have one on my car and it NEVER spikes and has a wastegate creep.. costs $100ish and works perfectlly!

Sounds like the go. How controllable is the wastegate, do you controll it with Ecu?

there are basically 2 knobs... the first controlls boost and the second controls creep... mine is under the bonnet but you can mount them in cabin if you like..

It takes a while to tune but once it is it controls boost perfectly. i have never had boost spike since..

If it works its all good, but you have too compare apples with apples. Boost spike & creep are most evident when you revue a dyno run or drag run through a data logger. you would probably be suprised with the results.

i also have to knobs, but they say one is for coarse boost increase and the other one is for fine boost increase????

maybe the fine one is for creep?

I have one the same as yours maccaz I dont have problems with boost spikes had it tuned at Ice Performance boost holds pretty well I run 10.5 pounds drops off to 9.5 by redline but Ice Performace said this is pretty good and even the electronic boost conrollers do that to a degree and yes they did tune the boost while on the dyno. They said Unless you have something like that (while pointing to GTR with a huge turbo) an EBC is not really worth it.

This type of turbo xs vavle have a ball and spring design so that the wastegate does not open until the set boost level is seen (no wastegate creep) this results in faster spool up. I have the brass part of the controler open by half a turn and then fine tune the boost with the top blue part.

Its interesting that yours spikes and mine does not.
