Short shifters (the height in particular)

Hey guys,

Does anyone know if there are any short shift kits out there which also reduce the height of the shifter for a 33 gtst?

After a search on the forums, seems like most have gone for the C's short shifter or a copy. I believe these are close to stock height.

by the very nature of their purpose short shifters are... short... the shorter stick means a shorter throw... longer stick longer through... its simple geometry.

short shifters will shorten throw by either of two ways: shorten the stick or moving the pivot point. As stated earlier, most short shifters seem to adjust the pivot point as opposed to the length of the shifter.

If anybody can confirm that the C's type are stock height or are shorter, that'd be great.

i was shopping around for short shifters a while ago and found most shortshifters adjust the pivot point instead of actually being shorter. When I installed mine the length of the gearstick was pretty much the same...difference can only be felt when shifting.

Couldn't you just cut an inch or two off of the gear stick itself and then re-thread it? I know a guy who did it, works just dandy.

yes, that's an option. I was wondering if there was an actual kit that had a "shorter" shifter.

Well, I havn't heard him complain about it in anyway. It looked a whole lot better too, alot sportier.

yeah, i cut the end off my stock shifter. Didn't need to re-thread it. Felt a whole lot better too, heaps shorter throw. I reckon if u cut the end of an actual short shifter you'll be loving life.

I had a stock gearshift which the previous owner made shorter by 2 inches. I changed the shifter to a C's short shift, although the shaft is taller (stock height) the throw is a lot shorter.

They sell short shifter kits on ebay for $250 for R33 and alot of other cars

i can get one for about $150 from a shop here in Perth.
