In my opinion the sump plug method will be easier. Sure it's messy but isn't it easier than getting to the filter, again, and again, and again?

Personal preference. But the drain bucket under the sump, strap on a kitchen glove, and off you go.

Yeah it will take ages to drain 4Ltr's from the oil filter, Get ready for a messy job :P

just drain from the sump plug into a CLEAN container. Then refill, check it carefully on the dipstick as you do :P

BTW 2cm over the top of the dipstick is not terrible AFAIK. I'm not sure but the crank may not even be hitting the oil I think. Maybe someone has a bottom end apart and could confirm?

yeh hey all, thanx 4 ur replys

i took the extra oil out.....via sump plug...was a bitta fun havin a play under there even tho it was cause i did something dumb it first place but ah well.

Also guys.. is Castrol Formula R Synthetic 0w-40 ok to use in my gtr?

thanx

ive already put the formula r synthetic 0w-40 in so is it cool,. or should i take it out.....i live in tassie so it gets really cold here in mornings etc so i thought the 0w would be good and the engine is in fairly good nic touch wood so 0-40 should be ok yeh or too thin ?

hehe my mate a couple of years ago did that, his dad told him to go down to the servo to top up with a bit of oil cause it was low,so he did when he got back he say's to his old man it took ages to fill up i went though 3 bottles and its still not full, well he was never aloud to do anything for his old man again :):)
