Well... we went to go there... then Fenn got a phone call from this other guy and said lets go to Springwood maccas...

Then he rang back and said that the coppers where there (how unusual) So we turned back around and went to the city.. then the coppers followed.. so i decided to come hom eand get some sleep...

I said to Fenn, Doesn't Boostmeister come from Toowoomba.... and he said yeah...

How did you hear about it?

Maybe its gonna be the new car hang out...

Not the greatest spot in the world to have it seeming Police HQ is like a few hundred metres away!

There's an even better spot (IMO)

Just off the Logan Rd turn off on the Pacific Highway is a place called the Bris. Technology Park.

Directions:

Get off the Hwy @ the Logan Rd exit (North or southbound, doesn't matter). If you're coming from the north turn right @ the lights, south it's left.

Drive for about 30 seconds until you go past an import dealer (Autoforce, the theifing bast***s) and turn left straight after the dealer.

After that it's first right and you're in Bris Tech Park. The biggest carpark is all the way to the T intersection and turn right.

The carpark is about 1/3 the size of the broadwater but it'll still fit a couple of hundred cars easy.

If you're in the area, check it out and see what you think.

I am on a Yahoo Starlet group (They need some keeping in line lol)

They had about 6 starlets there last night and my friend wanted to go cause he has a starlet....

Its an awesome spot with good lighting and plenty of spots.

Yes the cops do cruise through about every 25minutes or so which I think is great as it keeps everyone under control, they are all fairly casual......I was standing in the middle of the road taking a photo and suddenly realised there was a car behind me, I turned around and it was the police, I gave him a smile and stepped aside and he cruised past without saying anything. the second thing I saw was the cops pull up next to a guy in his parked civic with big kit and crazy paint, the cop said nice car what is it the guys then started talking and laughing with the cops for about 10minutes? ITS ALL GOOD.

The main problem with most hang outs is the hoon/lout % of people who just fool around and cause trouble and this is why the cops get mad, if we can behave and have fun then there will not be a problem..

There is a huge grass area and a lake and stuff so there is plenty of room for people to stand around and talk etc.

Probably the best spot I have seen for ages.

What happened on Tuesday's Today tonight... i missed it

Oh they "Our 6week under cover work" blah blah blah

Basically they got some footage of some hoons and a few drags and a couple of idiots making statements like "if the cops set up road blocks I will just hi the Nos and look out etc.

As always it was a witch hunt, find a few wankers and spoil it for the rest.

Shit car cruising goes back to the early 50's, yes there will always be wanks who give the rest a bad name and will they ever stop it?

    • They care about emissions, and cost the most. Save weight where possible, and make manufacturing easier. Less material also let's the engine transfer heat to water quicker, and bring the engine up to temp quicker, better for emissions and getting them past their warranty period.
    • I was under the impression the reason why OEMs are going with solutions like relatively thin "right-sized" cylinder walls with technologies like PTWA and open deck is because they care a lot about whatever marginal knock margin benefits they get from that vs the structural rigidity benefits of a closed deck block and thicker cylinder walls. I also see some weird stuff like plastic inserts in the water jacket around the cylinders to try and equalize cylinder wall temperatures. re: the PRP blocks and heads at the end of the day it's hard to know what is and isn't going to work there, just have to see what the initial buyers say about it.
    • Which is why I didn't mention that hardness testing, and specifically mentioned the bore and deck thickness testing. Yeah, not really. The bore temperature will be a lot more even around the top half inch or so, where the material distribution is dominated by the deck, and which is the only place where the bore surface temperature heating any gas in the cylinder is likely to have any effect on detonation. Think about it. Another inch or so down the bore, you might have a hotter spot. The gas there might get a bit hotter, then the piston rises squeezes that gas away from there at high speed and mixes it with other gas from nearby. Instant dilution of the problem. I'd be surprised if it was an issue at any time other than in racing engines or OEM dev engines being run at the ragged edge of tuning. Say what now?
    • https://dsportmag.com/the-tech/education/engine-tech-material-hardness-testing/ The PRP testing on block hardness I'm not sure how much it actually can be trusted. The thinner cylinder walls on RBs is a bit of a problem vs 2JZ but it really depends on the design goal. Siamesed cylinder bores like a 2JZ cause uneven cylinder wall temps too, which means a bit of distortion induced by that + the hotspot can affect knock margin. Something that actually gives me a bit of pause with the PRP block, whether super thick cylinder walls are going to keep it from being drop-in compatible on an otherwise OEM rebuild.
    • Yeah very valid point. I am waiting for one of the other tuners to come back from vacation so he can help me a bit when the cat is installed again. In the meantime I am going to finish up my polishing and ceramic coating that I have started myself.    N45 Dr Beasley product is highly recommended for a paint primer / polisher. Using this EXO Gtechniq also for the ceramic but next time might use the light serum before hand also. Looks great.
