Go read the performance section and try intercooler in the search option of that forum.

bassically.

Bar and plate is a type of intercooler core. The other is tube and fin.

They are each suited to different applications, which I can't remember off the top of my head. If your cars a daily driver either sort should suit. If your cars stock or going to minor mods stick with the factory one and save some money.

A tube & fin fmic will provide better flow, but won't cool as well, and are also more expensive than bar & plate.

My opinion, if you have the space go a large core bar & plate, or if you want something smaller then tube & fin. Also, if your car is mildly modified, bar & plate is better, if it is highly modifed then tube & fin is better.

OK class, summary:

Street use - Bar & Plate.

Racing use - Tube & Fin.

Class dismissed, let's get on the piss. :headspin:

some kind of miss leading information there, standard gtr intercoolers are tube and fin,

Bar and plate cool better that is true however they suffer from larger pressure drops, tube and fin suffer from less pressure drop but cool a little less effeciently. if you have the room and the dollars fit a big tube and fin core, these days everyone seems to go bar and plate, doesnt necessarily mean they are better. Do a google on them and there is a mountain of information.
