firstly you are correct the stock heatshielding wont fit and anyway they deteriorate over time and start to rust and rattle. most people I think install a/m pipes as is. but when my friend and I both bought 3inch front pipes for our GTI-Rs he installed his as it came. the amount of heat that was radiated up through the floor was quite noticeable. I wrapped mine with heat wrap, then painted the wrap with flameproof high temp paint. no heat came up through the floor :D

can't speak for a GTR though, it probably wont be a problem on a light tune car.

I bought the Trust / Greddy Front / dump pipe combo....

Would'nt bother fitting the factory heat sheilds again for reasons mentioned above...plus they ruin my new exhausts good looks :)

I've been told Turbo's have to be removed to fit the dumps ;)

So may as well upgrade while i'm there, as I don't want to do that job twice.

I put the sheilds back on mine, but the pipes I got are much more similar to the standard shape, just larger....only required some small work with the all purpose adjusting tool.

but yours looks like a very different shape, join is much further back, I'm pretty sure they wont fit

That tool wouldn't happen to have a handle with a large metal striking piece attached to the end would it... :D

Yes the turbos have to come off to fit the trust pipes, no I didn't wrap mine, but in hindsight would have HPC'd them.

Maybe when i upgrade the turbos I'll get them HPC'd. Can they coat a used pipe? I assume that they would just acid etch it to clean it or something...

Turbos have to be removed, so might as well fit some extractors as well hey?

Err..no New Turbos :P

BTW, whats the going rate on Standard RB26 Turbo's these days?

(They appear to be in perfect working order and dosnt appear to have any evidence of a boost controller fitted)
