i had one fitted to my r33. brand new. here is what the costs were

$350 core

$400 ish for pipes and bends and the coupler orange/blue silicon joiner things

$510 labour to fit and weld up pipes and cut front bar. cut hole below wiper tank, bolt on cooler, wled up pipes (stainless steel) and connect all the pipes.

$1260 drive in, drive away fitted. the core is 500x300x75 or thereabouts

fitted at chasers in melbourne

There are a few options for the 33

Trust V-SPL Intercooler Kit for Nissan Skyline GTT Price: $1299

Complete kit - Inlcudes all piping & fittings

XTR Front Mount Intercooler Kit for Nissan Skyline GTS-T Price: $1395

Complete kit - Inlcudes all piping & fittings

Blitz LM Intercooler Kit for Skyline R33 GTS-T & R34 GTT Price: $1695

Suit RB25DET

There are a few options but for the dollars u cant go past the Trust FMIC

Troy

what do u think would be a resenaouble price to pay for an intercoolr mounted and all in a r 33?

you would be crazy to pay more than about $800

just because it has a brand name or comes in a kit doesn't necessarily make it any better than if you buy a hybrid and get soem pipes made

myself? i bought the cooler for $400, pipes and fitting was $260... totl = $660

yes, there are some bad cheap intercoolers going around (eg ex-truck coolers) but there are also some decent ones (eg hybrid)

some people have more "dollars than sense" and will pay an extra $500-1000 just for a brand

where did you get pipes and fittings for $260 man thats cheap

Its not just the brand

Its the quality of the fittings the pipes and the finish

Sure u could hack one together urself but im sure it will be no where close to the quality of a proper kit such as one from trust...in terms of finish, fittings, mounts, clamps, hoses etc

If u had to piece one together urself that can match the quality, it will either cost just as much money, or alot more effort on your part.

The Blitz kit that I was extremely high quality, so good in fact that I was able to fit it myself and there was no cutting, drilling, cable tieing or duct taping required. It basically fell into place. It also only took me about 5 hours to fit once I worked out the instructions.

I heard the Hybrid and there copies were not that good a quality and some of them tend to whistle when driving.....any truth to that or is it just talk? Also the pressure drop on a Hybrid was alot greater than the jap brands? I guess you get what you pay for huh!

A few peeps i know have Hybrids and Hybrid copies and a couple of them whistle. It depends on how much core area is exposed to direct air intake and for a FMIC to work properlly the more are the better. You can't really hear it over the engine/exhaust noise and then with the stereo on its not even there. But you can hear it if it whistles during everyday normal driving.

I was having a look on www.driftbits.com.au and they have spme pretty good kit prices on there at the momnet. I think it was $680 for the R32, R33 kit for memory
