Hey, I really Really need some help to get my car running well enough to get it to the tune shop!

My setup is RB20DET, HKS 2530, Power FC, RX7 460cc Red top injectors, Z32 AFM, Walbro 255HP Fuel pump! And the normal stuff, FM Intercooler, 3" Exhaust, HKS pod, HKS BOV!

What injectors % should i be running and air flow %???? Ive tried trimming the map down as it seems to be too rich! but still the idle is up and down and it just isnt right!

Could someone check on their car with a simpair setup! Any help would be much appreciated as my babys been off the road for 6 months now and finnally everythings modified ready to go now!

Thanks

- Luke!

choose z32 80mm afm in the airflow setting menu and leave at 100% air flow......u can pull abit out the injectors..... had my car running on 94% with gtr injectors to get it to the workshop....was running like a hairy goat. Other option is to use ur NRMA road service if you have and arragnge a tow truck......helped me out once or twice.

Let the tuner worry about the idle....thats what your paying him for.

Thanks for your reply, i have changed it to Z32 AFM, also the tuner is 4 hours drive away, so as you can imagine i wanna get the AF ratio as close as i can, so i dont foul up or melt plugs on the drive there, it wouldnt be fun changing the plugs on the side of the road...

The PFC will be in closed loop at normal temperature idle, so if the idle speed is jumping around it's not the tune. Usual problem is vacuum leak. So triple check all of the hoses.

Getting a modified car to idle is sometimes harder than getting power out of it. After you have checked all of the connections I strongly suggest you forget about tuning the idle and move on . The PFC will also run closed loop for cruise, so it will get the A/F ratios OK for that. Check how it runs on light throttle, it may take a few minutes to learn. Thne a 4 hour drive should be a doddle, just don't do it in peak hour (leave home at 2 am) and don't get out of cruise mode (resist the temptation).

Hope that helps:cheers:

Thanks HEaps mate!!!!!!! ill give that a go, i was going to leave real early one morning! and take a mate and a set of spark plugs with me and of course the appropriate tools for the job!

Thanks RB power, ill try them at 65%

same set up except for Q45 AFM ... i run mine at 50%

200Kw here they come !!

good luck :D

Hey, Does that mean you have 460cc Rx7 injectors?

If so is there any chance you could check out what the injector % is set to? and the pulse rate of the injectors...thanks!

As far as i know S5 RX7 injectors are actually 550cc ... not 100% sure tho

and they are set at 50% duty.. now the column next to it is set at 0.00ms through all 6.

hope that helps

    • Hey guys, Just thought it might be of interest to owners of the RB25 det NEO motor, that awesomeness Nitto are in the late process to produce an engine gasket kit by end of Jan 25.  I think obviously there will be an 25det kit too. cheers, Ian

    • Bumping this thread yet again, has anyone ever tried putting yet another vacuum regulating valve on the hose that goes between the turbo inlet? Something local owners have mentioned is the Radium breather pipes de-restrict the valve cover but it actually produces an undesirable outcome in practice, way too much air is sucked out of the crankcase and a ton of oil comes with it as well. As far as I can tell the PCV diaphragm in these modern euro wet sump performance engines is active during boost as well, there's just a check valve to block boost from entering the valve cover and crankcase as there's no inherent check valve function in these diaphragm-type valves. Hopefully I'll be able to try some of this out soon. The Volvo XC90 4.4 V8 has a nice external version of these things.
