Hey guys, just saw a story on 60 minutes about BASE jumping, and it really makes me want to go skydiving again, just thought id see if anyone else wants to go (its cheaper the more people that go). I was thinking of going in a couple of weeks on a saturday or sunday when im not working.

As far as cost goes, last time i went in a group of 5, it cost $250ish for the jump plus $90 for the video (damn expensive video, but ya gotta get the video of your first jump)

So yeah, just looking for EOI at the moment, and ill make a few calls during the week sometime

I did my first jump about 2 months ago and I'm doing my second in two weeks time.

I would recommend that everyone should do it at least once, it is probably the coolest thing I have done!

after this jump I'll be sweet for the course and my first solo jump - that should be duckin scary! gets a fair bit cheaper one you have your solo licence - jump for about $30 if you have your own chute.

Go do it!

wow thats really cheap! how much would it cost to buy a chute?

i'd rather use one thats provided by the proffesionals, i hardly trust myself to put a shirt on the right way, let alone pack the only thing stopping me from hitting the ground at a 200kms/ph

Not trying to put anyone off, but driving back from Sydney a month ago, driving past that skydiving place just outside of Sydney on the highway there were a heap of peeps doing the drop. The scary thing was we saw one person whose 'chute wouldn't open properly really close to the highway. They swung over to the side and landed just out of view, but they hit the ground pretty hard. Chute never opened properly.

    • I found the same with Subaru’s.  I own and love the SG9 Forester, after that model 2008+, Subaru threw the ugly stick at all their line up and somehow managed to make them look worse with every succeeding year.  lol
    • It's something we all have to consider as time marches on. Also consider lifted rally MX5 conversion at that point.
    • I should be fine for a few more years, whilst I do have arthritis I also exercise and do mobility training every day to keep as fit and healthy as I can, military life, which is the actual cause of most of my joint issues, has set daily regimes, which I weirdly enjoy I also train alot smarter now, not really focusing on lots strength or puffy muscles, I'm more focused on maintaining what I have for my future older self, I actually train as much mobility now as I do exercising Check out this "simple" drill I have been doing daily prior to training now for a while now, this has worked wonders in my all round mobility
    • I'd say one thing that may make you sell is the same reason the guy with the hard top roof sold his. He got old, and his back was giving him too much grief stopping him getting in and out... Old guy said he was 73! He looked and sounded younger than 73 to me! Or maybe I'm just aligning with old people more...
    • Already looked at a few prior to getting the MX5, really nice car, had all the mod cons, but I wasn't really sold on the new "look" I did miss my 2017 Limited, and I personally prefer the "look" of the older car over the new model, but, when pondering I kept going back looking at MX5's But it was same same for the new ND's, I wasn't sold on the new "look", especially the RF with its weird roof, which only half goes down, like a targa top sort of thing As I stated before, I did look at NC's, but the cars I looked at were PRHT's, but I didn't like their roof line "look" of the PRHT, until I saw the soft top version, (someone on SAU posted a for sale ad for one with a soft top that caught my attention, you can blame them for my choice.....🤣) and.... that old style detachable hard tops were available for them, which keeps the old MX5 more smoother flowing roof line, and the more rounded body style, similar to the NA-NB, to me, the arse end of the ND looks to "modern" Much like how I prefer the NC1 front bar, over the later models How long will I keep this car for is unknown, but currently, there's nothing else out there that "floats my boat" for a small, fun, little "sports car", that I can play with and enjoy looking at and driving But, who knows what the future holds, and going off current new car styling, if I replace it, it will be a older model something something
