Hey guys,

Just toying with the idea of one day getting a HID kit (probably late this year early next year when I go to J-land).

Stock headlight globes are H11's right?

I've changed mine to accept H4's but would prefer to stay stock where possible.

Anyone using HID?

If not can someone please confirm H11's are the stock ceffy bulbs?

(Just talking about low-beam here)

If I recall correctly - last time I looked at the bulb holder - it looked like there was a clip that would hold almost any bulb into place, then the connector would be plugged in.

Anyone know if H1's will fit the holder? (not worried about the connection/plugs cos I can modify later).

I'd be greatly appreciative if anyone could answer that as it would save me buying H1s just to see if they fit so I can order my HIDs.

Thanks.

would you like to share some info on that? price, where from, brand etc...

just changed my stock bulb... piss weak... especially after been driving my mum's commodore for few months (commodore = f!@#$%ing strong high beam + more than adequate low beam :( )

The cefiro now has HID !

Just finished installing it.

Bought up a H1 kit from BATMBL (http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=70411) Kaixen Korean one - I couldn't afford German so I bought the next best thing.

I don't have a digicam atm so can't take pics but I was using philips bluevision which were a lot better than cheapo bulbs in there and the HID is now better still.

The main aim was to get better lighting - which I think I've achieved, they're not quite as bright as I imagined but I think that's got to do more with my power supply than the kit itself. Haven't adjusted where the projector points to so won't know till tommorrow night :D

but right now I'm very happy.

My headlights are stock - I just added an extra wire to accomodate H3's - this doesn't really come into play when fitting H1's.

I'd highly recommend to grab this H1 kit from BATMBL at the price he has it to clear. Either that or order a H3 kit.

I got the H1 because I couldn't go past the price and the modification is so minor - it's just melting/filing some of the bulb 'skirt' (which is plastic) to fit into the bumps/shapes in the H3C/H3 cefiro headlight holder.

This isn't too hard but I had to do a bit of trial and error, which, admittedly damaged a part of it but that was because I was scared to shave/melt off too much of the skirt rather than doing too much. It works fine anyway and I know how to do it now :D

If you bought the kit I'd be happy to help you mod it or modify it for you. It would take me about 10-15mins so you could just bring em round or something.

For the moment I'm holding my recommendation - I took the car on the road today and the new lights seem not very bright at all.

I think I'm having issues just because I'm using the H1 kit in the H3 lights - BATMBL suggested something about the placement which affects the focus of the bulbs. I'll take a look at tommorrow or the day after (most probably tommorrow night as I'm dying to see these work).

I'm hoping that it will fix this so I'll let you know :P

Ok. It's official BATMBL is a champ heh heh.

He checked out the bulbs for me and saw that the H3 bulb focus points are about 1cm difference from the H1 kit (now that's service!).

So this means for all us cefiro people we will need the H3 kit !!!

I am working it out with him about the kit so I will have my HID working but not for the cruise this weekend. Will update this post when it's all 100%.

Cheers

    • Excuse me for butting in....but which part of ADHD can be considered a superpower? I would have though it far more likely that some ASD comorbidity is more likely to be contributing to an ability to hyperfocus on something. ADHD being aimed somewhat in the other direction. My shed looks like your shed. My whiteboard list of unfinished projects has entries going back 15 years. I know what you're talking about - I just struggle to connect ADHD to the results being discussed.
    • Thanks for reaching out!  It's a blessing and a curse at the same time.  I'm undiagnosed but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see it in me... I have more half started projects laying around my house, shed, garden, etc taking up space and money, destroying aesthetics than if I added up all of my mates projects together. But, ADHD gives me the ability to hyper focus on things that no mere mortal could even  comprehend.  A recent pool build is an example of that....  I dont know anyone else that would be dumb enough and focused enough to take on then complete something of that magnitude. I call ADHD a superpower but it can equally be completely destructive if not controlled and focusedon the right places. Addiction is a major concern to ADHD people and thankfully my addictions have been no worse than projects, XBOX, chocolate and being an arsehole! It's often hereditary and my 13 year old son is currently learning how to drive it at the moment. Keep lurking! If i can finally finish this bloody thing at some point it will be a win for all of us ADHD'ers! 🤪
    • I've been quietly following this thread for ages, but this one got me. Since my ADHD diagnosis (and associated learnings and prescription) I'm way less inclined to wade into forum yarns when there are better things to do with my time, as half the time I'd end up in some kind of forum debate even if that wasn't my intention. I've not lost the ADHD "superpowers", just am a lot better at directing my hyperfocus into slightly more constructive things, but haven't stopped quietly lurking in here in my spare time.
    • Stripped the tank down and gave it a good scrub. It came up really good! Not sure if I'll just put it back in like that or give it a blackening treatment (such as Bowdens The Black Box). That might give it a matte look so might just run it as is.
    • @MBS206 Ha ha, yeah ADHD is a daily battle to not get drawn in to doing things you want to do that you know you shouldn't do!  Every single time I walk into my shed I end up doing something I started the day having zero intention of doing! I keep mentioning the 1 step forward, 3 steps back scenario and I'm tipping people that are blessed with ADHD (yes, blessed) are the worst at that!
