stock piping

Just got a stupid question cause I know you all love it anyways ive got a fmic intercooler and it uses the stock pipes once it gets back inside the engine bay. (Both the input and output pipes point to the right on the intercooler.. as oposed to one going left.. one going right.. like most of em have it) anyways When I drive round for a bit the metal intercooler pipes which connect to the stock pipes are like realy realy cold which is good, but then once it gets to the pipes in the engine bay (the stock plastic pipes etc) it obviously gets realy realy hot.

Should I replace the stock plastic pipes with some metal like pipes ? Im sure it wont be to expensive.. but is the few $$ / time and effort worth the gains in performance ??

Also what type of metal or woteva is good to use for this sorta piping ?

The stock intercooler pipes aren't plastic. They are painted steel.

Obviously the pipe from the turbo to the cooler will be hot. If the other pipe is getting hot you could thermal wrap it.

the piping will get hot as its picking up heat from the throttle body / plenum. the air travelling through it doesn't have a chance to heat up as its moving through the pipes so quickly. best not to worry about it. i have the cooler piping going past the stock fan and back into the plenum and it heats up
