Immobilisers etc

Hi, i've done a search and haven't really found a thread like this. So, just wondering, what is the difference between all those types of immobilisers out there, and how do they work? And what makes them so different to each other?

Benefits? Down sides? Value/Worth? And how well do they do their job?

If there is a thread like this, then i apolagize, as i must have missed it in my search. But i'd like to know because, well, I'm sure anyone would like to know, and, well, for obvious reasons.

Also, could they be used in combination with Quicktrack or something similar?

quiktrak is a alarm - 3pt one in fact. 2 fixed points and one remote controlled one.
