washed engine bay with high pressure, now running like a pig.

ok, i know it was stupid, and its happened before on another car. but i did it anyway and i still dont know why.

when i did it, it was idling and running kinda rough afterwards, then a day later it got REALLY rough.. like REALLY REALLY rough.

i dont know what to do, i dont know if its my crank angle sensor as people have told me, or my spark plugs, or to clean my coils...

what do i do!?!?

Id start by cleaning the coils and checking your plugs.

A degree of care is required when doing something like steam cleaning your engine bay.

Hopefully you actually had the spark plug/coil pack cover on for starters, if not you have a problem

the cover was on, the air filter was covered with a plastic bag..

ill go and check out the coils and my plugs now anyway

This happens all tha time.. Just use compressed air to blow all the water and moisture away from plugs,coils,igniter box etc and should come good if not then will have to test coils etc.. cheers an good luck.

Make sure you really really dry everything out. Otherwise even a bit of moisture can form condensation on the coil packs and make them malfunction.

Did this once on my old RB30. Had to stop every 2km to dry out the distributor for ages!

ALL FIXED

there was a puddle of water ontop of my spark plugs, and another one was really wet so i must've been running on 4cyl. i took everything out and cleaned and dried it, when i put it all back together it still kinda misfired for around 10secs then it was all good.

Best way to learn is from your mistakes. Think of this in a possitive way. You did well to fix it yourself as most people would just start stressing and give up. Good work.

I had the very same problem... they couldn't have built better wells if they tried! I think they made an attempt to water proof the valley where the plug sit, but it wasn't a very good one... Lesson Learnt!

Thing is you should never high pressure water cleaner. Use a cloth and some oil based cleaner. I take up to 2 hours cleaning just my engine bay...

Yeah i agree man... not on one of these babies anyway... I just used a hose, but next time i'll be being very particular to where water goes!
