Talk to the guys at Racebrakes http://www.racebrakes.com.au/ , particularly Howard. Sorry Charles but this is opinion I have formed from serious investigation into best value brakes and my experience on the track.

Consider the cost of decent brakes like AP's against the fitting cost of Brembos and it quickly becomes apparent that your money can be better spent elsewhere tahn on Brembos. The GTR Brembos are about the lowest spec you can get, with the WRX STi Brembos a much better caliper overall. At the expected cost of GTR Brembos you just won't get the braking performance expected for the money spent. Also consider the master cylinder size and brake balance variation may detract from braking stability and performance.

Finally, consider that on standard road rubber the stock GTSt (and I believe 200sx) brakes will stop just as well and the best value street upgrade is slotted discs with RB74 pads from Racebrakes and decent fluid like MOTUL DOT 5.1 or better and finally a master cylinder stopper. Even a quick calliper overhaul and braided lines will be worth a look.

Full set....$2000 thats what i paid, and i got rotors and a full rebuild kit too!!

Stace, that's getting closer to their realistic value. Actually a really great buy with all the ricers chasing anything GTR and unrealistically driving the price up.

 yes it was just the fronts. I need the rears for the race car, I wouldn't recommend anyone buying them for street/light track use tho, they are only marginally larger than the standard rears.

I'm also not a fan of the brembo fronts, they aren't worth the money they ask IMHO. Once again they are the best I can run under the regs so I need them. But others should either be sticking with the standard (they aren't bad by an means) or going for a 6 spot upgrade like the porsche brembos or the AP racing ones

Do you still need rears, Duncan? I need some fronts so can split a set if they come up for sale :)

    • I don’t really have any ideas how to set the timing on the CAS 😂, sounds like the top, sounds like it maybe misfiring as well as ticking,  got the box sorted 😌, must of been a air bubble on the clutch side
    • Use a 2' length of hose (that's 2 foot, not 2 inches) as a stethoscope to localise the source of the ticking. From cam covers? From exhaust or turbo manifold gasket? From injectors? From lower down in the engine? Etc. Use a timing light to set the timing. Put Redline Lightweight Shockproof in the box. It's not the very best thing for the box, but it will take a box that refuses to engage a gear with other oil, and make it engage a gear. I had to put it in when I installed the R33 box I have in my car. It would not select ANY gear when running. Smurf jizz made it work. That was >10 years ago and I still use it. I'm stuck with it now. Failing that - rebuild the box.
    • Well done Duncan. The fuel tank bulkhead lid is also in great condition (some of mine were stuffed). These are now out of production and good ones like that are becoming hard to come by.
    • Wow that's a steal, you've done well there.
