Hi guys,

I currently have an xtreme heavy duty 860kg clutch with organic disc on.

I just put a HKS2530 on with other mods....it will be fairly torquey after i get it tuned next week. Im expecting about 230 rwkw with this turbo.

The current clutch is 5000kms old.

My driving style is fairly granny like. Stick to speed limits most of the time. Occassionally like to drive it hard every now and then near my house and at traffic light take offs. Once in a while, I like to do 0-100km/h drag on the strip outside my house.

95% driving in the city. Only 5% on highway.

Can some ppl suggest a good cheap clutch to support this power???

Also, what of my 3 options listed below.

I will appreciate if ppl give me their opinion on what clutch i should have and also select one option (1,2 or 3) I listed below.

My own ideas are:

1. Use current 860kg clutch pressure plate. Change organic disc to 9 puck cushioned button.

2. Change entire clutch to 1100kg pressure plate with 9pucked cushioned button.

3. Change entire clutch to 1100kg pressure plate with new organic disc.

Please don't suggest twin plate or triple plate 1000dollar clutch!!!

I've had both a organic and current have a 9puk.

The organic was nice in traffic but I found it to slip after hard launches, my lauches rode the clutch a lot to get off the line clean. Clicking second had it some times slipping and it would stink.

I have now gone to a 9puk but with a 1tonne clutch. The pressure plate is quite heavy but I do like the no-slip feel of the 9puk.

Paired up with a 800kg pressure plate it would be quite nice.

I recently replaced my slave cylinder and have noticed the clutch no longer shudders when reversing, its easier to ride and all over appears much smoother. Unsure why that is. :P

My vote is with the 9puk. Nothing quite like a nice grabby clutch.

Thanks a lot cubes,

So thats one vote for changing just my clutch disc to 9 puck cushion button.

This is also the cheapest option for me as I just change the disc.

Any other ideas anybody???

there is a good thread about a month ago,

people recomend JIM BERRY "race clutches", we have one in a simmilar powered r33gtst as you, 5 finger carbotic, and it feels great under $900. (could be a little grabby for 95% arround town commuting) :(

I'd go the wait and see option.

Chances are the current clutch will start to slip but it may not. If it does then an upgrade to a 1060 pressure plate and 9 puck clutch would be worthwhile. You could then sell of your existing clutch for a reasonable price too as it should still be in reasonable condition.

I am currently running the 1060 with 9 puck and honestly there is minimal extra pedal weight over stock (i think it has a modified pivot point in the pressure plate) and the 9 puck isn't particulary harsh for day to day driving. I dove mine daily up until a couple of weeks ago and honestly it was pretty nice and could be ridden a bit too. You will also find it bites hard if you let the clutch out quickly. This is behind a 200rwkw RB25.

It is an allround nice clutch to drive, i highly recommend it. I have not driven a car with the 800kg version though so can't comment on additional pedal weight with that pressure plate.
