Thanks to everyone that came out in the true spirit and gave thier cars a flogging.

Hats off the the NDSOC boys & girls as they put on an wonderful day.

Brilliantly organised and some of the GTR's there... two words

****ing Amazing

In total awe of these guys, and some of them Zed's, they go arite indeed, sneaky little packages.

Again, thanks to everyone... even though we didnt organise it, NDSOC deserve a pat on the back.

Some highlights

Kier's "drag car" - 8.7 or 8.6 (i think) @ around 160mph or maybe 150mph... i cant remember.

Kier's "street car" - 9.5 or 9.6, that car was amazing, not using slicks... didnt get close enough to see what tyres though.

AVO had a car form the ACT there, i thinkiit busted a 9.

Overall a septacular to watch, throughly enjoyed it :P

We'll have a drag day later this year of our own :P

Cheers - ash

Yeah, standing next to it while it ( the 8sec car ) riped the burnt out was ****ing awsome. Amost kill my chest though :P , Ash ripped burn out in true Japanese style. Sideway burnt out pass the chrismas tree.

I and Letmedrive was suprise to find out our SthEast meet up has got more cars turn up than the Main one. Sorry guys i missed the turn into Hume sad enough i called Troy( YLWGTR) to ask him how to get back to Hume again lol and as always, Troy is there when help is needed.

I pretty much forgot everyone names ( getting old, sorry ) but call out to the guy in the silver stock R33 that were in front of me when we started to do bracket qualify, you might need new diff oil as i was lining behind you when u were doing the pre-run burnt out, there was only one wheel spining.

Again, it was a good day. Dry, cold perfect if my clutch wasn't slipping i might dip it into the low 12 or even flat i hope.

awesome day!!

I got it down to consistent 13.4s at 106 mph with the car grabbing traction pretty well. 2.1 second 60 fts. I ran low boost (10-11 psi) all day cos i was scared of Detontation, so thats why the lowish terminal speed = I felt that I could have given it a MUCH harder launch cos my tyres - Potenza 8000s 265s were gripping so hard i was too chicken to give it more power :P

Enjoyable day, was Behind keir when he ran his 8.7 PB and I congratulated him on the way back!!

G'day Guys,

Glad to hear you all had a great day........ that's what it's all about isn't it?

Keir Wilson's cars were just awesome to watch but I was really impressed by the overall quality of pretty much all the cars that lined up. (that said, some did run some ordinary times too.... hehe)

The turn out was awesome ........

On behalf of the NDSOC I just want to thank all the SAU guys (and girls?) that made the drive out to Heathcote. It's the cars and people that line up that make the event.

Ash - was great to meet you mate. Will hopefully catch up with you again somewhere down the track.

Cheeers,

BIG THANKS! to NDSOC for inviting our club for this event, was truely a great day and very well organised. The weather cleared out nicely and remained very cold, great for our turbo engines.

Very disappointed at the turn out at Ford carpark (Only Ash and myself), but very happy to see a lot of Skylines make the drive up to Heathcote.

I was carrying my camera all day but did not take one pic :P. Too lasy and cold to take my hands out my pockets and line up a shot .

I beleive Ash's best time, for the day, was his first run; 12.1. We were all hoping he was going to dip into the 11's but his clutch decided not to co-operate and threw in the towel. I truely think his car has the potential to run a 11sec pass.

Well dine guys/girls and see you all at the next event.

TURNED OUT TO BE A GREAT DAY, THANKS TO ALL OF THE PEOPLE WHO HELPED ORGANISE IT!

I managed a 14.07@96.98mph and a 60ft of 2.1 with a Front pipe back exhaust (no dump), POD, 12psi, GTR front mount and HANKOOK K104's 265/35/18 tyres.

Is this a good time for my mods? or should i be going a bit better. Ive noticed that some people with a worse 60' time than mine got into the 13's.

Oh and this might be a stupid question but does the timer start when the lights go green or when u take off? This is in test and tune BTW

Any help would be appreciated

I'll be around Raul :P

I'll try beat your hat with one of my interesting ones

and yeah, i ran a 12.1 @ 111mph first run, then i let the tyres down for more traction... which actually worked against me and the best i could do was a 12.5 rest of the day.

I'll get there eentually, the car is interesting to launch ;)

My clutch never got sorted on time *sniff* I wouldve been there...

Starionturbo what tyres did you end up using?

HKS-R33, that time is good for 97mph, but I would think that 97mph is a little low for your mods...

Hey riggaP, what could be some possible causes of a low mph. I'm kinda suspecting that my boost may not have been getting to 12psi in higher gears. Could this be the problem?

    • Thanks for the reply @GTSBoy this is is a hydraulic lifter engine. Yea right i did not realise the lifters were supposed to be compressible while installed. I could push them down but i had to lean almost my while body weight on them.  I have never heard of a lifter/ lifters ticking only at hot idle and getting worse the hotter it gets. I have owned a few jdm cars with noisy lifters. This noise is slightly more subtle, it is more of a sharp gentle metalic tic than the solid and more loud tapping I've heard on lifters. I have used a metal rod, alloy tube, hose and stethoscope and could not find the source of the tick. But it appears to be loudest on the actual engine block behind the exhaust cam gear and next to the oil filter. I had mate (40 year old mechanic) go over it with me and he couldn't find it either..  Could it be a cam seal issue of some sort?  Cheers
    • This seems problematic and unlikely at the same time. Vanilla RB2Xs have hydraulic lifters. They do have "zero" clearance, but only when running with oil pressure inside them. When not running, you should be able to compress them and obtain heaps of clearance. RB26s and Neos have solid lifters. They should have ~0.3mm and ~0.5mm on the inlet and exhaust respectively. If they have zero clearance then bad things are happening. With nothing else being wrong, it would mean that the valves would be held slightly (ever so slightly) open when they are supposed to be closed and it should have all sorts of problems when running, caused by leakage in/out through the valves. Or, zero clearance can indicate severe valve seat recession. None of it is good. Have you used a piece of hose as a stethoscope to try to localise the noise?
    • Sorry for reviving an old post, but I'm having the same hot idle tick issue. Did anyone ever find out what it was?  I have checked/ replaced Injectors Coils checked Lifter clerance (is at zero) Checked Cam lobes Replaced exhaust gasket and studs Would appreciate any advice this is driving me nuts
    • There's a huge reason manufacturers are tuning in dead flat torque curves... Make them reliable (and more drive able)
    • What HVAC actuator is under the steering wheel? Do you mean on the RHS of the centre console, immediately to the left of your shin? If so, then yes, it is probably that one, because that is the mode door actuator, and from what I know, it's still a pain in the arse to replace. I don't know about whole dash out, but you certainly have to rip into the centre console section. I don't know if it's covered in the workshop manual, as I haven't spent much time looking at those parts of it. (and by "the workshop manual, I mean the R32 GTR one, which is the most comprehensive one we have, and it should be similar enough between that and later cars to serve as a guide).
