im haivnig problems with boost in my 32 im not sure whats the problem is

in my first gear boost doesnt seem to hit (or very little) when i rev past over 3000

and then in second gear it only seems to go up to 4 psi even wen i pass 4500 revs

but in 3 and 4 it boosts up to the normal 7 psi

i dont understand why ?

i got a r32 gts-t 1992 it was originally an auto car converted into a manual

the cars got about 150,000 km on it.

is the turbo going out ? or is there anohter problem ?

not sure how can it be a leak when it can hold boost when im in 3rd and 4th gear

and i bought the car with a auto to manual conversion already.

no i dont hear any ticking noises

except for this weird one wen i got over 100 km i can hear a ticking noise

When I bought my R32 it had a 108kph+ speed alert ding dong thing that could only manage a ticking sound after I wore it out on the freeway.

Just a thought.

I thought RB20's ran 10PSI stock. Unless you have a different turbo or a BC?

are you working off the stock boost gauge or an aftermarket one.

cause the stock one doesn't read PSI.

just a thought.

you still didn't answer if this has always happened since you bought the car or recently.

if this only just started hapening now, have you made any recent changes?

very true 'Cubes' as soon as i put my exhaust system on the boost jumped to 10-11 psi. for the other question about not hitting boost well my best guess is that u might have a leak in ur intercooler pipes, check them all and check the standard bov it might be leaking.

how does putting an exhuast on a car increase its boost ?

If you dont have a boost controller eg. AVCR wouldn't boost still be controlled by the wastegate ?

what is the stock boost on a 32gtst anyway ?, some say 7 some say 10. Im getting an AVCR soon and i want to know what is safe to run. I was thinking 12 psi....

it makes it rise due to less backpressure.

the enemy of a turbo car is backpressure in the exhaust.

having one free flowing gives good gains in many areas

as for manual/auto ECU, that wont make much of a difference

i have a similar problem...

standard my car ran 11psi with a Autometer boost guage...

I noticed that same prob, when boost kicks 2500-3000rpm it feels as if its loosing it, and at about 5k its comes back.. didnt register on the boost guage but..

Hooked up a Turbosmart dual stage boost controller.. and it does the same thing but worse.. 90% of the time it does it... sometime it works and hammers..

Im thinking it has somehting to do with the fuel cut as im running 13-14psi boost...

Bu then again.. it was doin it before i strapped the boost controller..

R32 gts-t run 10-11psi stock

My car was also converted to manual from auto... but didnt have the problem after the conversion..

it doesnt change the spring.

my understanding is (without even bothing to be technical)

By not leting the gas out freely, the turbine cant spin as freely.

If the rear is going no good, the compressor isnt going to go any better either.

So you make the rear work, and the front follows suit and the whole circle goes a lot nicer

    • Hey guys so turns out this project is going to be much bigger than I thought haha but I've done some my homework and have done a few panels on my car, but one part I can just not visualise is this. If I do a spot repair and I put filler in a dent for example and sand outside of the repair with 320 grit lets say so the primer can stick as I will only put primer on that repair and the surrounding area and then repaint the whole panel. Don't I need to make sure that I don't put primer on the old clear coat? I keep seeing YouTube videos where people have new paint and primer land on the old clearcoat that isn't even dulled down, it's still shiny. I thought putting paint on clearcoat or primer on clearcoat is a bad idea because it won't stick. So in this scenario it's a bit different to mine but imagine someone doing a spot repair and only painting that small section of repair but the new paint is landing on the old clearcoat. What am I missing?
    • I was immediately reminded that your location is QLD. Sounds like a perfect SEQ business idea.
    • And if you can't drive bigger injectors with peak and hold as low impedance injectors during low pulse width, it's even harder to get a nice clean known amount of fuel.
    • From watching the 6 hour, it seems they've really got the class A2 Ford Mustang sorted, as it was cutting it up in lap times with he X1 cars, which are all those late model turbo BMWs. I have no real idea about either of them, but watching what was happening at the 6Hour, it made the Mustang which is meant to be in a slower class look very impressive.
    • Also Mark, perfect timing for you to offer Fab9 to open an Aus branch for them, where you'll setup all the contracts that basically you're just the paperman, everything goes through Aus for their gear, and you can buy a piece of paper off of them once every 3 months that's really expensive. Tariffs aren't paid on exports after all. And for it, you'll just take 10% cut for your name on the papers. Oh, and a free NC intake setup and air box...
