Howdy everyone,

Thought id make myslef known as i recently after many many months of blood, sweat and tears i have managed to get my beast on the road! The names Laine and i am a proud owner of a Black R32 Gts-t that i imported through prestige motorsport. Id just like to add that geoff at prestige is a top bloke and helped me every step of the way as im sure alot of people out there already know.

Anyway as a lot of you have experieinced Dicskon Inspection station is possibly the worst place in the world to get your car inspected. Took me three goes before i got cleared, and it cost me over $1000 in parts to make them happy. I understand alot of the things needed replacing to make it roadworthy but each time i went there they would find something that they didnt the previous time which was infuriating to say the least!! But its done know so if you a Black Gts-t with gold Work alloys, a gtr kit minus rear spoiler cruising round with a lanky bloke driving give us a wave!

One question though, my mags have seen better days in the paintwork department and i was wondering if it is viable to get them repainted and cleaned up or is it cheaper to buy new ones. If it is viable who around Canberra does that sort of thing?

Well i look forward to many years of Skyline enjoyment and hopefully ill see some of you guys cruising round at some time. Ill probably throw up a post every now and again when i get some mods done, but for now i have to pay off the bills of getting the car registered!!!

Cya'll later

welcome Laine, good to hear you got it on the road, you should come out and meet us on a tuesday or friday

For your wheels, try the wheel factory in qbn, they are apparently the best locally

Just got a question, have you had your car towed around on the back of trucks earlier this year? Reason i ask is I ve got a black R32 with gold wheels too, and have received a few frantic phone calls and msgs about my car on the back of a truck, was it yours?

Yeh thanks guys ill give them a call when i can get some cash together.

Nah sorry wasnt my car either, ive kept it off the back of any trucks thank god even though at some stage i had a bung starter motor and a screwed ignition lock.

Where abouts do you guys normally head on tuesday/fridays then? Im pretty busy with uni and sport at the moment but i might make an appearance this Friday all being well.

Could have been me in dickson, spent plenty of time out there at the inspection station!! Yeh and distance defineitely makes the car look better, paint needs some polish after 15 years and spending nearly 3 months at the docks in japan.

    • Cleaner signal so timing is more accurate at all rpm also found it to start more on first rotation but could also be I've nailed prime and crank fuel. For under $400 and 30mins of your time, its a good solution especially once the optical sensor does start to play up you won't notice it until in higher rpm and it heat soaks.
    • On a 400hp RB, what benefits other than "it's not 30+ years old" are you seeing from the NZ Wiring Kit trigger setup? If it were me going to change triggering, my belief would be to go for a crank trigger to remove the issues caused by what people claim is belt stretch etc, but that's from my understanding a much larger issue for super high power, rather than those in the 400hp and below club.
    • The NZ wiring kit is a 1/3 the price and will be perfectly fine for your application, I've ran one for 6+ years and many others have. Comes as a full plug into factory connector and the settings for a Link. https://www.nzwiring.com/index.php/product/trigger-kit/ Always comes back to the tuners knowledge and experience with a tuning platform. It takes years to become proficient and learning all aspects and capabilities. I've been using Links for 16 years now (rb and sr paltforms) and always learning something new with adding tables, diagnostics and data logging. Stay 98 for the usability and keep it simple so you can enjoy the car more. With experience I'll give you a current example of the industry I am in. They use Motec m190 and only use VE tuning when they have a torque mapping available and would solve the "PARITY" issues that plagues the category all because the muppet doing the tuning doesn't understand the platform or want to learn it and the product seller have no idea on its full capabilities ( I had a good laugh as when firing up an older car that just got completed and they didn't understand the injector scaling or how to change it for different fuel being used)
    • I'm sure there are specific hygrometers for it. But if you can just throw a high enough ranged temp sensor (theromcouple that came with your DMM, for example) into a pot of it on the BBQ, you can see when it boils.
    • I have multiple bottles in a shed that gets hot, and I'm in SEQ, so it's humid. Maybe we test their theory... Anyone have a system to accurately measure moisture content in oil?
