what features does the profec b give you that you actaully use? many people go yeah the avc-r is stacks better but do they actually any of the features it gives? if you are just using the profec b to set xyz psi or bar and thats it then the powerfc boost kit will do that. then you could sell the profec b. if you are using things like gear judge, and xyz psi @ xyz rpm and another psi level @ a different rpm level then stick with the profec if you do utilise those features. a boost controller should be a set and forget device, set it to xyz psi, save, done.

no need to fiddle

well my first advice would be to run one setting, why bother with two settings? whats the point? use your foot to control the power. it would be silly to run 7psi normally then run 12psi when you want some fun, just run 12psi all the time and dont fang it when you dont want it to drive fast. the powerfc boost kit should do the job fine. do you already have the profec b? or are you just comparing models etc. the profec b is $430 AU delivered and youll have a seperate unit in your car, whereas the powerfc boost kit is $430 but it wont be a seperate unit, you control it all via the hand controller and the data for boost pressure appears under monitor, much more handy than having a seperate unit such as the profec b. if your on a tight budget look for a second hand unit or even an older unit as you dont want any specific features. i got my hks evc3 for about $250 and it works fine. set boost at whatever psi you want (has support for hi/lo mode but dont use it) and thats all there is too it. you could also look into changing the turbo actuator that may work out cheaper or not, unsure. the actuator controls the minimum amount of boost pressure. you could get it changed to a r32 actuator which will make it always run 9psi (i think thats what the stock actuator is) instead of the r33 actuator which is 5psi

i totally disagree paulr33, I have a blitz EBC and a powerFC and quite regularly set different boost levels via my EBC, which is conveniently mounted on my steering column. I quite often drive around on 0.5bar or certainly leave it there when other people drive the car. When i'm looking for a bit of fun, i turn the knob on the EBC, wind it up to say 0.8bar and experience the speed limit quicker than normal. Then, if i'm attempting to set land speed acceleration records, a simple turn of the knob will see a full 1.0bar for maximum attack for my current setup.

How you can say that the boost kit for PFC is more handy is beyond me. I made my decision and in fact, made my own thread about this very topic, but decided that the ability to change boost levels with a simple turn of a knob on a separate EBC was far too convincing to warrant selling the EBC and buying a similarly priced PFC Boost kit.

Leigh, in my opinion, given you sound like you want to do exactly the same as what I currently do, it's not worth selling the EBC. It will do the job just fine plus every time you want to change your boost quickly, you don't have to fiddle through menus on your PFC hand controller.

My 2c. :D

    • I think you're missing the point here Duncan, I was trying to say that if you want to go fast around and have a spare $80K to $100K, easiest option is to just buy another car instead of modding your Skyline. Sure blowing $80k to $100K would make it fast, but then you'll have a car that you can't drive on the street comfortably. But use that $80k, buy a fast factory car, spend like $7K on AliExpress pipes, email tune, tyres, pads and you can be fast, not to mention now you have two cars.
    • You're 20 years too late mate. Used to be 80% skylines back in team trackday days
    • There's a lot of drug money on that side of Sydney. Just sayin'.
    • At SMSP, I mainly see Hondas, M cars, A90 Supras and of course, plenty of Evos. Have not seen a single R32 ro R34 Skyline on the night sessions that I've been to. That's really saying something.
    • I like mine. Much better than stock. Like i said before the reverse/parking cameras look even worse than normal, still useable. When you buy one make sure it's the latest version. Heaps of cheap ones that run the old hardware and software. Got mine from AliExpress. Mine is quick no lag, boots up 1-2 sec. Menu is fast. Netflix is fine and so is YouTube. Android Auto is random taking 3sec to 15sec. Most of the time it's quick. Very rare it doesn't connect. But that could be a phone thing.   Now I think they use a Pixel 3XL to run this whole thing which i guess is fine, but the problem is that some apps will not work on old hardware like Disney Plus  Maybe Prime Video too 🤔. they will not update. Iv'e tried getting the APK Disney + but i still couldn't get it working. I have a Data sim installed so i have internet all the time. You can't Hotspot off your phone and connect Android Auto at the same time. Not that you need too, if you want you can hotspot off your phone and run any internet map app (google maps) and you can run the Spotify app on it's own (the app runs better than android auto) You can still access the INFINITI intouch system for all the o.g stuff    P.S i got new non Polarization Sunglasses too 😎
