Got my car (2000 gt-t coupe) delivered the other day, sent it to autoworx for compliance. So Paul (cool guy) rings me and says he needs the Japanese deregistration papers before he can put the plate on which is due in the mail in a week.

I think back to a couple of weeks ago when my dad (who I don’t live with) said he got some mail from Japan which was probably for me. I said I wasn’t sure if i would need it and I would let him know when i saw him next. So anyway I ring to ask if he has the papers and to check if he has the de reg papers, he tells me he threw them out.

WTF!!!!

So like my dad looks to have thrown out my original papers which I need to get my car on the road.

Worst case scenario if the supplier doesn’t have a copy is to get another copy off the Japanese authorities, who knows how many weeks that would take!

I hope it isn’t to much of a pain in the ass, all I have been thinking about for the last week or so is my car and how good it will be driving it.

*TEAR* :~(

lol

Man you should be able to get around it. I didn't submit my dereg to compliancers (mainly because I was never given a copy of it by Customs Agents). I think my supplier faxed through a copy for me?

Pity you didn't use an import broker, they would have recieved it and processed it on your behalf :P or at least adviced you that you needed them.

Good luck with it all, but it dosen't sound like a major hurdle to have the papers resent.

Getting the papers resent should not be a problem. I don't know if it's the same in Australia as over here in UK though - but when I've had papers missing for a Hilux Surf that was imported several years ago and never registered, I was able to get a letter off Toyota UK. All they needed was the chassis number and description and they sent back a certified letter with all the original specs, weights and so on. The registration authorities over here accepted that in place of the dereg doc.

we use an import broker once, i think the one you work for shan.

we bought the car asked for de reg papers for the 3 months. and then when you guys finally found them we had to pay for them to get shipped out to where the car went

so import brokers arnt always the way to go

lol Import brokers are NEVER the way to go.

So far I am not even delayed by my dads stupidity, I am still waiting on the plate from RAWS.

spoke to my english speaking contact in japan a moment ago and he was chasing it up for me.

*crosses fingers*

I got a copy of the de-rego papers sent to me before I paid for the car. They are very important as they prove it's not a stolen car in Japan. Always get every piece of paper and keep copies, FOREVER.;)

    • There's probably an underlying issue with the A/C system too. I recently fixed mine, now it's fully control by the Haltech and car's factory HVAC controller  Have a squiz here:
    • And by the way, I've also checked the ECU diagnostic numerous times and got a bad O2 sensor code and initially an Ignition Primary code, which is why I replaced the O2 sensor and all the ignition components (coil packa, plug and loom). No codes have been coming up lately despite the ongoing issue.
    • Hey pber13, unfortunately still no luck. At this point the following has been done with little or no success: - Spark plugs replaced, gapped to 0.8mm - Splitfire coilpacks installed to replace originals - Replaced Ignition Coil/Coilpack harness with a new genuine nissan one - New fuel filter - Replaced AFM/MAF sensor - Injectors have been thoroughly cleaned with an online flush (without removing) - Upper engine and inlet decarbed - blew tons of black smoke out, cleared the carbon deposits from the top of the engine and exhaust.  - IACV removed and thoroughly cleaned with carburettor cleaner - O2 sensor replaced with new and genuine one -  Smoke test revealed no vacuum leaks - Healthy compression test of 160psi across all 6 cylinders Overall the car does run a lot smoother now, no backfires between gear shifts like it did originally... but the rough idle when warmed up is still there. It may not even be a misfire but simply a rough idle. Seems crazy to me that so many people have had this issue and seemingly no one has gotten to the bottom of it, or at least never bothered to post if they did! Hope you have more luck than I did pber13, I'm at a point now where I'm just going to try to ignore it unless it gets worse. Would love to fix it but I've genuinely run out of ideas of what it could be.
    • I got the full frenchys kit too. Really awesome kit. Easy to install my only complaint was the hardlines I think could be routed differently (I modified mine) but I realise the kit needs to suit multiple applications. This was the hard lines before I modified them. They were touching the wastegate pipe. I ended up reducing the distance between firewall and first bend. The made it so they tucked along the frame rail.
    • Deeve, I don't suppose that you've made any progress on this? My Stagea has the exact same problem, and just like you, I've read through as much as I can online, with no real progress. My car isn't throwing any codes at all, which is a little frustrating. I've changed plugs, checked the wiring and harness. A new MAF gets here next week, but I'm not hopeful it will solve the issue.
