Hi guys,

I'm frustrated by a lack of a proper bb for Cef owners. It is very kind of sau to host this section, but I don't think it is well known and it is also limited in that it can't have its own sub forums for classifieds and the like. Also the content is diluted due to that fact that other 4 door Nissans are discussed here. They will be welcome on the new site, but the focus is on Cefs.

Look out for an update soon with a link.

Michael

everyone wants to be teh uber admin of a forum these days:D

someone did start a dedicated forum for ceffies n laurels and other nissan sedans, something taxi.com... wasn't exactly a raging sucess as it was a small group of 15 people going "swoit car mate" to each other.

As a cef owner, SAU's been the best resource as all the tuning etc as the cef and laurel is 70% a skyline anyways. If there's not enough people aware of the awesome tech and resources available on here, or of the 4 door RB sedan section, then you should spread the word, not splinter off as that'll make things worse.

I'm not after the glory here, I have a very successful website in www.sr20tuning.com already for that. Maybe not so well known on RB based forums but heaps of people know and use it on Silvia related sites.

And yes I agree that this site is a good resource, in particular your self has done a great job in the cef section from what I've seen in my short time here.

Jus want to give these interesting cars the space they deserve.

:werd: :werd:

Thats right theres no point starting a forum without the people that have the know how to answer the questions in the first place.

Sure it would be nice to have a shrine for the ceff but it would be hard to match SAU in the amount of information and knowledge provided as there would never be anywhere near as much traffic . The strength of this forium is that it is a forum is for different types of cars but they all still share the same tuning/performance traits

i think it's a fanstic idea, but, before i say a compliment, i must contradict myself like a real dickwad.

yes that's right i said it...

anyway, the cefiro "community" if you will is a very small group of people as far as australia is concerned, say for example, 15 cefiros australia wide ( i know this isn't true, but just hypothetical situation) if those 15 cefiro drivers are on SAU, wouldn't it be wise to keep them on SAU, rather than segregate them creating many splinter groups?

im all for it, but here you have the RB geeks who know EVERYTHING there is to rb engines, i love it here! plus, i already waste more than enough time of my day checking forums...

haha, but seriously it's a good idea

I'd like this section to be a bit more prominent as well, but so would the stagea boys as well, so we have to have a fair sort of system... if more people call for this section to be more prominent then the other admins might agree to doing something about it.

Ah well, another forum to whore.

Guys fair points I agree. No reason why we can't still be a member of both now is there? A fair chance many questions will be answered by searching here and new thread will not be needed in either forum.

Anyways please come along and join up:

Proper domain name to come.

I'm with that. I think having too many for such a small userbase is folly. Personally, between ns.com, nsilvia.com and sau I get my need of - forum kids, tech info and tech info/good people (respectively).

I'll sign up to support the movement and all that but I like sticking with SAU - there's just no reason to move anywhere else.

Sorry to be another downer, but this section here I would have to say would be the most popular cefiro section I have come across.  The only thing that isnt cefiro or laural is the title.

This is exactly how I see it also - except that you get the occasional 4 door skyline in here too. Don't get me wrong I like Adz posting about his crazy wheels or blown up flywheel :D but I think most 4 door skyline owners hang in the skyline section anyway.

I think the solution to this is to get the cefiro domain owned by PranK pointed to the cefiro section directly. (and I've started to whore)

    • Cheers, and cheers for sharing so much of the build and also sharing the glimpse of what turns out to bring a lot of us poor decision makers together haha.  I do recommend learning more about how to manage it, if not considering getting a  formal diagnosis.  The discussion with the psychiatrist I got my diagnosis through was quite eye opening, things I'd not even considered to be ADHD related and hadn't mentioned were things she asked about out of the blue and were common themes with people with my flavour of ADHD.   It's not a label for people who are hyperactive and ill-attentive, there's more to it than that and some of it can be much more challenging or damaging - though there are of course two sides to the thing, and a lot of the stuff we have to go through and work on to live with it make us effectively "better" at other things as well. Aside from the fact that there is some argument I could have a bit of ASD seasoning in there (came up during the diagnosis, and neurodiverse things seem to not stay as a cookie cut) I suspect you need to learn more about ADHD if you are puzzled about how hyperfocus could possibly apply.  I *do* personally use "superpower" with quotes deliberately, but it's 100% an ADHD thing due to the exact reason that lack of focus is also an ADHD thing... Loosely speaking the inattentive side of ADHD isn't the inability to focus, it's the inability to control where the focus goes.  Not being able to sleep because brain is more interested in thinking about a stupid thing I said to a girl I liked 30 years ago, not being able to focus on work because my brain is more keen on putting together the torque management strategy we're going to try out with a drag car next weekend, not being able to focus on a conversation with someone I WANT to listen to and respect because there is a flickering light in my peripheral vision.    If I could just stop work and build the torque management setup right there and then I'd not hear anything else until it was done.
    • Maybe you should do some more reading.  Google positive effects of ADHD and you'll get your answers.  One of my personal downsides of ADHD has been talking before I think.   Maybe you have it too?
    • Excuse me for butting in....but which part of ADHD can be considered a superpower? I would have though it far more likely that some ASD comorbidity is more likely to be contributing to an ability to hyperfocus on something. ADHD being aimed somewhat in the other direction. My shed looks like your shed. My whiteboard list of unfinished projects has entries going back 15 years. I know what you're talking about - I just struggle to connect ADHD to the results being discussed.
    • Thanks for reaching out!  It's a blessing and a curse at the same time.  I'm undiagnosed but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see it in me... I have more half started projects laying around my house, shed, garden, etc taking up space and money, destroying aesthetics than if I added up all of my mates projects together. But, ADHD gives me the ability to hyper focus on things that no mere mortal could even  comprehend.  A recent pool build is an example of that....  I dont know anyone else that would be dumb enough and focused enough to take on then complete something of that magnitude. I call ADHD a superpower but it can equally be completely destructive if not controlled and focusedon the right places. Addiction is a major concern to ADHD people and thankfully my addictions have been no worse than projects, XBOX, chocolate and being an arsehole! It's often hereditary and my 13 year old son is currently learning how to drive it at the moment. Keep lurking! If i can finally finish this bloody thing at some point it will be a win for all of us ADHD'ers! 🤪
    • I've been quietly following this thread for ages, but this one got me. Since my ADHD diagnosis (and associated learnings and prescription) I'm way less inclined to wade into forum yarns when there are better things to do with my time, as half the time I'd end up in some kind of forum debate even if that wasn't my intention. I've not lost the ADHD "superpowers", just am a lot better at directing my hyperfocus into slightly more constructive things, but haven't stopped quietly lurking in here in my spare time.
