Nice.... ;)

That's the sort of figures I'm chasing. Once I hit the 200rwkw I'll be happy.

What sort of mods do you have other than the PFC???

I recently put a FMIC in and I noticed a good increase in power, but I also noticed that it's not as smooth, it seems that the stock ECU gets confused with the more mods you do :D :D

From the front:

FMIC plumbed back to origonal fittings.

POD Filter with cold air plumbing.

Greddy Profec A only in for one week. Previously a bleed valve which worked OK.

Before Boost controller and PFC I was getting mid 190rwkw with fuelcut defender. A good device for in between getting a ECU upgrade. Can be tempremental however.

Three inch exhaust from turbo back race cat (you know what I mean).

OS-Giken twin plate.

Z32 AFM

R32 Gtr seats

Front bumper cut and plastic welded providing opening to the Intercooler.

Myself and Freebaggin had some third gear drags (basically same Mods but Microtech). Not a real decisive result pretty even. It was hard to time the launches at the same time. He appears to be changing up to fourth later maybe giving him a bit more speed in the top end. Possible due to taller gearing maybe or the fact his rev cut is higher. Hopefully when the weather is cooler we can work that out.

For me biggest improvements are 1st and 2nd improvements felt straight away. Third and 4th is smoother however I wouldnt say much more power. Once again 30+ deg 10 pm is probably not the best temp for this crazyness. However I didnt see the check eng light come on once (detonation) so the tuning is nice and conservative. And Freebaggin had the water temp/intake temp indications as I dont have a HC yet (wanted 415-X001).

Anyway thats a bit more than I expected to say.

Hope you find it interesting.

Congrats on a nice result. I have a power fc and fmic, but when they were fitted the clutch decided to start slipping, so the best I got was 260rwhp before the power curve flatlined. Also my AFM is maxing out at 4500rpm. Have installed a new clutch and Z32 is on the way so fingers crossed. I would be really happy with a result like yours. Who did you get to do the tune. I will be moving to Adelaide in january and am looking to find a decent shop.

Any help greatly appreciated

Steve

EDIT: also, how much boost were you running?

I had my tune done at Tilbrooks. You may have read about a Drag car belonging to John Munnro featured in HPI/ZOOM who has had most of his work done there.

08 8261 8367

Mark Tilbrook runs the place.

12 Elm Street Hampstead Gardens

Tell him Greg Pinder sent you.

Not that I get on the cruises much due work, however when I get off my ass I may see you there.

Good Luck.

Thanks heaps for that. I have seen a couple of articles that point to the work of Tilbrooks. Looks like I will have to pop in and see them when I get over there - obviously the guy knows his stuff, which is the most important thing when it comes to getting work done. Thanks again

Steve:)

The air temp meter was registering 42 in the dyno bay at one stage, plus I had to use the aircon when doing the light load tuning! On a cold day, with more tuning time, 215 - 220rwkw should be possible.

Remember, since you have closed loop feedback, your FC equipped car should do 50 - 80km a tank better on fuel than the Microtech cars.

Congrats Greg,

Sounds like further "testing" with Lachlan will be fun :) I'd be keen to contribute to a "testing" session if you'd like? :uh-huh: I think Bugs would be keen too, especially as his car is ~200+rwkw on the Tilbrook dyno too.

When Martin did the tune on my car @ Tilbrook's it was ~32'c. The best run was in the mid 240's (rwkw) but after we let the car cool down for a hour or so it made 10+rwkw more!

Do you get any noticable change in fuel economy?, I was told its possible to get an extra 100kms's out of a tank once a Power FC is installed?

That is a big issue with my car at the moment as I drive up to the mount barker area from the city atleast 2-3 times per week... and I would love to be able to get more km's out of my car...even if it means a conservative tune with less power.

Joel: are you still able to get the power fc's at the $1300 pricetag?

I like the idea of the Microtek, but dont like that you dont get any fuel economy improvements.

Personally I cant help you I havent had the PFC in long enough. I still couldn't help as I have never really checked economy. I dont really care how much it uses as long as it makes power. I have another car to drive.

I want it to use more fuel if it equates to better performance all things sensible.

Greg/Lachlan,

I'm only too happy to take you guys for a ride, & do some comparison tests. Let me know & I'm there! A sub 30'c day or mild night would be best. Best if you ring me (Lachlan has my #) as I'm not on the forums as much these days.

Cheers

I think i've done a head gasket

I had the radiator cleaned/rodded last summer and all was fine until the first hot day.

Sitting in heavy traffic and she was sitting around 3/4 which is the line under H. Looked down and freaked.

Flushed the motor back forth heater etc.. replace thermostat, slapped mukout though her and flushed again now she is keeping cool again until the 8th where i can get the block powerflushed and radiator rodded again.

BUT.. there are bubbles in the radiator with the radiator cap off.

Real tinny ones.

And while shopping today trying to find a part i noticed that the overflow bottle was bubbling.. which = a head gasket or hopefully not a cracked head.

I am depressed. :O

Have a look at your modification list Joel. If you have blown a head gasket then thats why. Think about it for a minute, you take a management system programmed for 100 octane fuel, lean out its fuel setting with a pressure bleeder, ADVANCE the base timing setting, and then leave the ignition maps stock with 1 bar of boost. That is absolutely asking for disaster. Everything you have done has moved the engine closer to detonation. You guys should know better.

Oops... Had a CO2 test done and it wasn't a head gasket.

Just apparently when I pulled the heater hoses off it takes ages to remove all of the air locks.

After around 4 bleeds with a header tank its finally fixed.

Btw... I'll be taking the car in soon Martin for a ECU re-Map to suit a VG30BB running around 16psi, the turbo seems good its got no slack or movement. Feels nice and tight hopefully the seals are tight also.

Also will I need a new Fuel Pressure Reg?

I apparently have different Injectors possibly C18's as when I took the car down Tilbrooks they told me I had non-std Injectors and they look like C18's.

Also Hot weather when I need the AC on I always run low boost. 11psi.
