So what exactly are you asking for???

You've been to Racepace and still asking questions on which shop to take your car to??

I'm confused....

i am trying to find information from ppl that have had or know some1 that has had a tune from one or the other..... i know heaps of ppl have been to racepace, but hyper-tech has a good rep too, but i dont see anyone post anything up about them? is there a reason? did they stuff up someones car?

Well maybe you should rephrase your question to 'Has anybody had work done by Hyper-Tech???'

You should know what people around here think of Racepace by now!!!! :headspin:

I can totaly support Benny boy here. Coming from a family full of automotive engineers and having been involved in racing Formula 3 cars. The knowledge and experience is best kept to yourself. Ben would have spent hours and big $$$ trying and testing things and has built up a huge welth of knowledge in which he would be stupid to just tell anyone who walked through his door.

I think that everyone will agree here that Ben is un doubtably the best skyline tuner in Melbourne, if not Australia. I had my car tuned by Ben after another well known tuner farked it up one me. Without a doubt i would never take my skyline anywhere else but Race Pace. The guy is aweseome..... AGREED??????

Hypertech are good by all accounts, but not many people have been tuned there, because they are quite expensive and have a long waiting list of customers with deep pockets who need their cars tuned.

They are technically very good, and Arnold is great to talk to, but they have to pay off their $2 million investment somehow!

BASS OUT

i had a very good discussion with Ben when i was getting new plugs and a tune up...

we spoke for a few hours about cars/skylines/management systems/tuning/racing etc., an informative discussion indeed...

even discovered Ben used to own a datsun 1600 with the same turbo engine as mine...;)

My car is going to Benny 2moro for the second time. Cant wait to get it back. If Vinnie was still a tuner there I would say they too would be great, but thats cos i know what Vinnie is capable of. Now that he isnt with them/Access/BGT im not interested(thats just my honest opinion). I would love to see Benny and Vinnie go head to head in a tuning battle!

Does anyone else on here know of Vinnie (currently working at Docklands STi)

[EDIT] Ill let yas know how i go once i get my car back from Benny, dont think ill be disappointed thats for sure!

Vin still works @ docklands STi, that was of a week ago... highly doubt its changed :P

As for... the Q&A, that all depends on what you were asking dude, although i find that hard to understand as i've never once walked out of that workshop or hung up the phone without my question answered no matter how stupid it may seem to myself

If anything it brings me another 5 questions... but i have a group of people that i e-mail should that occur ;) even if the answers are somewhat... interesting hehehe.

Also remember mate, it might depend on what you class as an answer

Hard to say without knowing what you asked and all that sorta thing so i pull the reigns in here.

Stick with Ben.

Too many people going to Bens now - Go to hypertech :P

Seriously people who take thier car to ben for change of oil/plugs i think are crazy, bit of overkill - simple things like oil/plugs you can do yourself or any trusted workshop can do... more complex things like tuning/track setup is what Ben is for

Your car won't go any faster after getting oil/plugs changed at bens :(

hahahah people pay for getting oil and plugs done? What is the world coming to!

If your a enthusiast and own a sports car, I rekon some Mechanical knowledge is essential. Forget plugs, Id pull a Diff and gearbox out myself at home hehehe.

EXACTLY, my car is @ UPI now Deano's changing the plugs and getting it all ready, then trailored down to Ben so all Ben has to do is strap it up and plug it in!

Vin is still @ STI.

He can still tune your Skyline even working at STI. I haven't had him tune my car so can't comment but apparently he was one of the first Apexi Power FC Tuners in Victoria. True/False?

true they have to pay for it some how, an the customers list is always bookd solid.

as for asking ben questions, i didnt ask him tuning secrets that keep him in the biz, just question eg: intake temp when tuning......an i sort of got yes or no answers an not much information

TUNER FOR HYPER-TECH

Eric Schlifelner is one of the industries most highly regarded performance car tuners, and specializes in Nissan Skyline GTRs. Eric was formally the Group A Engine Development Manager for Winfield Racing/Gibson Motorsport. Responsible for the engine development process, he produced some exceptional engines during his nine years with the team. Erics engines dominated the GTR racing program from start to finish, and in 1991 and 1992 won Australias most challenging Group A car race, the Bathurst 1000.

an if he is that good then how come not that many people go their? price? waiting list??????

or maybe ben is better but, i cant find any tuning history about ben? has anyone got any?

    • Hi soviet_merlin, We appreciate your concern regarding this possibly being some sort of PR/Political hype, I assure you that is not the case, I wish we could claim something like that, but in this case, we merely reached out for comment on the basis of the outrage we too felt, as those heavily in the automotive industry. Ps. the original source in the social media post is CarExpert not CarExplore.    Best, CE.
    • Made a bit of a discovery, but while I was cruising, I randomly decided to test to see if it worked and it showed up on my IC7. The entire time I tested it before, I never thought to turn the ignition on. I only tested it with head lights turned on but with the ignition off. Huge oversight on my end. I’m a dummy. I know.
    • G'day all, I have drilled and tapped the hole for the relocation of the timing belt tensioner. That was straight forward. I'm unsure if I need to also put another hole for the smaller stud that the spring behind the tensioner catches on (this is how it seems to work in its original spot). Or do you not use the spring behind it and just torque it down? Thanks in advance, I did a search but couldn't find anything related and it doesn't mention it in the rb30det sau guide.
    • Hi All,  just thought I would provide an update as I know smooth (Matt) was on this forum from 2003.    my brother Matthew passed away end of may 2024 at the age of 41 from liver failure. I am not sure how many of his original team krazy friends are still on here or active but thought it reasonable to let the forum know.    if you have any photos or pictures it would be great if you could share them.    it took me a while to work out he was active on here.    thanks so much
