[EDIT] I said pretty much wha SK said above but no where near as good ;) So ill leave it at that.

Plus dont forget it comes down to the drivers ability also.

EG: A friend of mine went to calder and on one night could only muster a 13.4 1/4mile time after 3 or so runs, gave it to his Mechanic with a little bit more experience and reeled off a 12.6 on his 1st pass, thus proving drivers also have alot to do with it.

But going by other figures, times and praise, we all know who is in the lead of this 'race'...

Ok i will just say this.

If i had a Two totally stock GTR's (same model and all things being equal ie same condition, km's ect)

and i gave one stock GTR + $30k to Eric/hypertec

and the other stock GTR + $30k to Ben/Racepace

and i gave the exact same directions to both workshops (how they go about preping the car is up to them), I know who would produce the best results without any question.

Do you Ross? How much work have you personally had done by Eric? In fact, how much work have you had Ben done on your car?? ;)

Yeah but Ferni - your not really comparing apples with apples mate.

The Gibson R32 didn't have an RB31DET in it making 500rwkw's.

And again it's a little hard to compare most Racepace cars with Hypertech cars. From most cars I have seen at Hypertech they have been built to "Targa Spec". Now I doubt there is much hope that the Whites Targa winning GTR would run under 1.20 at Sandown. Benno is well known for his club / street GTR's. I don't know if he's ever tried to get the max out of a car built for Traga Spec and if so how it compares to one of Eric's.

I also don't know if Eric has tried to build a single turbo club track GTR. I really hope to get Eric down to one of our club meetings one night as I'd personally love to hear about the engineering of the Gibson cars. Maybe he can answer some questions on street GTR's there.

tru ben and eric have diffrent backgrounds (street and track) i think eric has a R33 GTR....in the work shop that is his that makes 430kw street spec, twin low mount turbos an still a RB26....do you have to be a member to go to a club meeting? (not a member yet but soon too be

That's a contest on who can buy the parts the cheapest.:(

Hey,

That 430 kw dyno sheet was done on 4wd dyno or 2wd?

And check Ice Performance out, as Leewah said G and Nige'll look after you, Nigel did good job of service my car and dynoing, Nige is top bloke to talk to...

It's your money you choose who to go.

Cheers

Grant

I'm not one to argue with SK, but i would of assumed gibsons qualifying full slicks would of been a better tyre than todays semi slicks?

Plus theres the proffesional driver part.

How much did the gibson 32 weigh? even with the extra ballest im guessing less than the racepace GTR...

but point taken about the no limits thing.

SK: what do you have to say about that dyno graph above? :(

I would love to Jack, but this is not the place, nor is there a reason for it.

Eric and Hypertech are being criticized in public where they are not even present or have no chronies pushing their agenda.

We don't want to return the favour and provide the WA folk with all the entertainment, do we...? :(

If someone is geniunely interested in how to read a graph, they can start another thread without any references to the workshop.

This thread is a farkin waste of time lenbac if you want to try hypertech then go for it, so sick of people asking which is better there are only a few good workshops in melb

and both mentioned are on those lists.

I know whewre my car is going once the good motor is built :D

To be honest, I think you get what you pay for unless you are capable of doing it yourself. Now I have joked about paying 30K for a Racepace tune, but on inspecting the receipts it appears I have paid for a Racepace tune and 12K of racepace engine with Argo's.

That's a whole lot of peace of mind and a very good feeling.

    • They usually get made by hand as part of any such swap.
    • Was planning on getting an R35 MAF and the adapter, should this be okay? Also any idea where I could get my hands on an intake pipe?
    • I mean yes, if you're starting from scratch on an unknown engine yes you don't need to be doing all kinds of math in the background but if you're doing relatively minor changes like AFM + injectors + boost up with some aftermarket turbos it takes quite a bit of math if you want to do something like maintain OEM fuel + timing tables but compressed and then a bit more load scale up top. I think I've spent too much time working on big engineering nightmares though so I'm a big fan of trying to constrain the scope of whatever work I'm doing as much as possible and trying to get it right before moving on. For example, a local owner just did the usual E85 + single turbo conversion to his R32 GTR and nearly burned his car to the ground doing some spirited driving up the local mountains. Turbine is unshielded and too close to the hood insulation. It's tough to balance "just get the project done" and "seemingly small details can cause massive setbacks I'm not willing to deal with".
    • No idea about Neil's steering wheel, but I have the same behaviour in the Stagea. I doubt it has ever been messed with so might be normal. Indicating to turn right at a roundabout and correcting even a little bit to the left to go around will cancel the indicator. Never considered it an issue other than it being a bit odd.
    • Does anyone know if this is off centered? Looks like it, when I indicate to go right, but turn my steering wheel slightly left it cancels (was always like that even before I started messing around with it) was wondering if anyone else has the same issue?
