Bass Junky
Nobody is under any obligation to know what time it is. How do you know it was a 40 zone at that time? Was is marked with the flashing LED speed signs? If not, fight it. There is no law that says you must know what the time it when you are driving. This has been faught before and beaten. Kaz200
if it changes to red AFTER you have crossed the stop line (at the start of the intersection), then you've run a red and will pay. I think you mean before not after, if your front tyres are over the line I believe its not classed as running a red. AFAIK only the fronts need to be 'in' the intersection to avoid a fine. That speed/red light camera at Smith st flashes at least 3 people everytime I've ever sat at that intersection.. it seems like the most unlikely place to have an accident, can't say I've ever seen one there.. where's this supposed blackspot? It would be much better if everyone had to upgrade their brakes or some such rather than this 40km/hr crap.
