New Perth Import Only Show....

Recommended Posts

Hi people,

A new event is currently being planned for Perth to occur mid-year (at the better end of winter) that will rival the PAS Western Salon and Cabin Autosalon for imports ONLY. No Aussi cars will be allowed to be admitted.

The marketing team is currently canvassing Import Owners to determine what they like and dislike about the existing two Perth events and what they would really like to see in an Import Only Event in Perth.

I'd really appreciate your comments to assist in helping to plan something that import owners want to see and will enjoy.

Many thanks for your time. Cheers. :(

Gregg

yeah, seriously though I'd like to see more:

dyno shootouts

chicks

track events

shop displays and discounts/offers

and less:

rice cars

I think it's a good idea though, doing only import cars, since that's pretty much what that market of people are there for with all the companies supporting import performance

Hope it goes well!!

lextc,

I believe a more strategic approach to judging the vehicles, not bias or 'cause it looks good attitude' that defines an overall winner. I believe the overall show winnner should possess a balance in all categories being the highest qualifier for -

* show display, body work, interior, wheels, paint work/ airbrushings/ sticker designs, engine modifications, audio installs/ driver attitude;

* and more points awarded for entries into events throughout the show including audio & exhaust sound offs/ dyno runs/ & track events.

This scheme of scoring will actively involve the entrants in the show & improve the standard of judging.

p/s No Rice Boy winners!!

Regards,

N1K

*Less Specialty Show cars eg. Lancers with Kits and stickers.

*Less Car audio Cars.

*More High Power Car, big Turbos and that sort of stuff.

*A Dyno comp

*More Stalls, more discounts, more things on sale, I buy quite abit at Shows

*Either keep entrance price to $10, or offer student prices.

*Showbags or something??

*An imported special guest, Either a Japanese racing superstar to talk about Japanese racing or bring in a big name Jap car, like the HKS drag car (dream on Greg) or at least something from top Secret or mines or what ever, you know what I'm talking about.

* But the most important part is a Out door Race track, Motokana style, this is a must.

Greg. :devfu:

Ps: I am happy to help any way I can.

id like to see a another car show held at the plex simular to the 4 6 rotary nats and motorvation open the whole weekend (cruises nuts, dynos held 1 day ,racing, dynos, motokanas MORE nuts and most important more TITS & ARSE both days now thats a must,

More stalls of our major parts suppliers, hks, trust Apexi Garrett with greater discounts and even stalls of our local mechanical, panal beating, engineering workshops with specific things they specialize in

Also is this show only for the low imported car scene may the jap australian cars be invited ???

Another thought. Have you had a look at the recipe for the SummerNats held in canberra. I went to one a few years back and it was awesome. As with what alot of the other guys are saying, lots of tarts - they came from every where, wet t-shirt comps (might be a bit tought in winter), burnout comps, dyno shoot outs, etc. Then add some drifting demos - how many people would love to have a thrash around a circuit for under the cost of Barbegello race way? I'd say you'd get a few takers. They also did a street parade, spose that helps drum up more interest with the public, which means better attendance, better media coverage, better profile for import owners and more money into displays.

EDIT: maybe even combine the show with a national drift event, get some interstate interest - now that would be nice to see.

The only thing I don't want to see more of, is car with looks but no power. I think that these shows should not just be about show-cars, but hard tuned imports. There is nothing better than seeing some 500+hp cars with no stereo or interior. Real race cars should be encouraged to come.

See'ya:burnout:

Thanks guys this is excellent stuff. It's good to get an inside on what people *really* want.

So would you be keen to attend if the show incorporated:

* Shit loads of talent (Doesn't matter where you look there is T&A)

* Decent trade displays with madatory discounted goods (as a condition of having a stand)

* Rapid Dyno runs (None of this one car stop for 30 minutes another etc)

* Wet T-shirt comps, bikini comps, talent walking round posing for shoots, continuous talent photo booth

* Track events and motokanna style racing

* NO Holden or Ford vehicles (Otherwise all other imported cars not just low import scheme vehicles are invited)

* More chicks...

* Equal focus on hard core Import performance cars and recognition/trophy's for hardcore as opposed to just show and shine rice

* Fair and different judging / different trophy categories than the normal (including a stack of new awards that recognise performance and the real essence of the performance import scene)

* More chicks...

* $10 Entry fee (With females for free?)

* Take home packs (Show bags) of good stuff supplied by trades for free

* Some form of overseas of interstate special guest(s)

* Live Drift action!

* Big projector screens (multiple) showing hard core performance drifting, drags and the like

* Multiple sections to allow for performance, rice, stereo heads etc to all to be satisfied

* Cruises aka motovation/summernats style

* Burn out comps - with no holdens and fords this should be a treat!

* Did I mention shit loads more chicks...?! :)

It's all going into the plan. Many thanks for all your thoughts and your kind offers for assistance. I believe that with the team of people that I have planning and organising this event we can attempt to incorpoprate your wishes as much as possible. Please continue to post any other desires you may have for the event. Needless to say there will be lots of chicks..!

Thanks again.

Gregg

I was part of the SilviaWA club at this years Western Salon and was quite surprised at the low level of organisation - especially when it came to floor layouts, space before the event. I know of a few people that were disappointed because their originally agreed position was taken without them knowing, and nothing was done to change it - ending up being tucked away in an area not really visible or well trafficed (bad for businesses). Oh, and the provision to entrants of floor plans that are to scale - a must in planning a stand, along with where power will be coming from and extra facilities that will be available.

It's imperative for those entering the show that they're clear on where and how much room they'll have to setup their stand/s - lights, stands, barriers cars etc. We had to change the plans for our clubs stand a week or so before the event which meant changing plans for lighting and other equipment required.

Another problem with the Salon was the choice of location. Now the Belmont Racecourse may be great (especially with the car parks etc outside), but it's extremely cramped (for the number of cars that were there) and was very difficult for the majority of entrants to get their cars in and out to the driving and dyno events. The roof height was OK where we were but in other areas it was rediculously low for that type of event. We were lucky to be located next to the rear entrance so all cars on the stand made it out to the Dyno and driving events.

As for the ladies, other than what was organised by the major sponsor and a few of the entrants, it was pretty lame. And the so called 'bikini' comp was turned into a 'modelling' comp at the last moment because there wasn't enough entrants (asked to come forward from the crowd over the duration of the event). The location for the this little show was pretty terrible too with limited scope and height for everyone to see. At least some pre-arranged ladies would have sorted the problem out for lack of numbers.

Anyway, thats my 2c.

Cheers

lextc,

The ideas that you have so far would provide a much better show than any of the others around. I think that there are alot of sub-cultures developing within the Import scene, and trying to please everyone would be very difficult, but getting our opinions is a terrific start in my view.

I think to make an event like this successful you need good planning and plenty of time to organise. I wish you all the best to producing a successful import show.

See'ya :burnout:

Great event last year and hoping for the same this year.    I've emailed them to ask to set a location aside for the Stageas for the show and shine - they are happy to do so if we can get them numbers, I'm happy to keep track of that. Entering as Nismo category.    I'll be road tripping up from Melbourne, would be cool to convey if people are interested, maybe there is SAU convoys from each capital?
