Geez guys...ease off my back a bit!....all I'm saying is that we shouldn't be portraying ourselves as anarchists without regard for law and order....If you do portray that attitude on this forum...that is what people will think of us.

Show some decency and respect to others and it will be returned(mostly...as u rightly say...some people are just pricks....u will never please them).

Incidentally....whilst driving around in my horrible nasty import car, I am constantly being passed by speedsters and impatient drivers in 'normal' cars.....I just sit back and enjoy the experience of driving one of the nicest cars on the planet.

Oh and finally JiMiH, if your car is legal...best of luck...invite said whinger to make a formal complaint...but keep your cool man.

all the best Ozzy

JiMiH, I wouldnt worry about it dude. We used to get the same sorta shit when we lived around where u live. It may sound a lil far fetched but I think it is partly to do with the area you live in. Dont take it the wrong way but when my family moved to where u live I sorta gathered that some (and only SOME!!) people who lived around us really thought they were hot shit....(snobs)...so they sorta thought that everyone had to bend over backwards to do what they wanted :)

A few years back when we were there we had some stupid bitch complainin about my dads then 5L VT SS.....now I think the most of you would think a stocker SS is quiet!!....well she didn't :D

should take the skyline round there.....sort her out

People think if you car is loud, your instantly a hoon and always speeding.

Fudge em.

YES! I can relate to this. Ill be driving along a quiet road and people watering their lawns stop, stare and give me this dirty look as if to say "slow the *** down!" humm amazing.

yer.. the area is a bit like that. i have the same problem with crazy mothers waving their arms in the air (.. like they just dont caaaaaaaare...) about me driving where i live... not too far from young jimi.

From my house I always hear motorbikes, I always hear trucks, I hear V8's.. and they are much louder than any turbo i've heard go past. The worse ones i think are probably the little buzz box turbos anyway, which are the high pitched ones.. not a nice smooth skyline.

Some people get intimidated by fast looking cars, don't know what they are, get jelous, get scared, whatever it is.. but its not a good idea to live out the stereotype.

If anything I'm now happier driving 50km in a 60km zone than i ever was in any car i've hard previously... just thinkin' "i can go faster than any of these cars if i want to, but i don't need to because i'm just taking it easy enjoying the drive".

Anyone who is familiar with the droning hum of the RB26 at idle should know it can be annoying, I also hate the "pshh" noise as the A/C compressor kicks in and out (I think that is what it is).

Though I do sometimes wonder which NASCAR team test drives their race cars around my area.

Some women (in my experience it has always been women) are just grumpy and expect to live in silence, my sister is one of them.

The funniest people are the yuppies that move into an apartment in the city and then complain about the noise. YOU ARE LIVING IN A FARKING CITY, get used to it! I lived in Hong Kong for a while and the noise from ships is constant. Eventually you don't even notice it.

Yes I know that type of yuppie....the one that buys the house near the airport and then complains...or near Garden Island in Sydney....we were banned from carrying out preventative maintenance on our nations warships by the locals...'what no-one told me there was a dockyard/airport there!'...can't please everybody. Life goes on.

good point Gojira. whats the deal with ppl moving into the city then complaining of noise? its the city! for example this guy in perth moved into an apartment across the road from a pub. then he complained that the pub was too loud. now the pub cant turn music on or something stupid.

also, and way off topic, how did u like hong kong? im thinking of moving over there permanently mid next year on a work visa.

lmao... my mate simon used to run a club night at cage here in melbourne off russell st i think it was on fridays and sometimes saturdays... not too long ago Bob Hawke moved into an appartment just down the rd and complained that there was too much noise (coming from the back room which is where i loved it most cause of the sounds) and then all of a sudden he wasnt allowed to have the music up too loud in the back!

**** THAT!

he kept it low for 2 weeks then basically told them to **** off and kept it up again.

haha sweet other people have the same prob! :)

Phew!

But yeah my car sounds like it should be way into the legal limit, so I think she can just shove it.

I should get it tested really so if she complains to me again I can show her proof of it being legal :)

And I don't leave the turbo timer running if it's past around 8.30pm ... just idle it up the surrounding streets. But geez she really pisses me off!

    • It makes you wonder, all these people starting to make a billet replacement head, I wonder if any have thought about trying to adapt tech from newer engines into them. You're already at the full design stage to make a billet head... Why not really spice it up and had some more modern tech into the mix too...
    • Connect all the plumbing up properly. The actual worst part about having the turbo unable to actually build boost, is you can and likely would over soon the turbo if you drove the car (free rev while stationary isnt likely to manage it).   If you do have an air leak as Duncan suggested, you'll have a bad time as the AFM will be saying different to reality.   As you have had the engine out, I'd go over all electrical connections again. If you have a consult cable, plug it in, and see what the ECU thinks is going on. Did you touch the timing belt? If so, double check your timing on the gears is correct AND put a timing light on it while it's idling and see what ignition setting you have. Is the AFM you've installed the one that was in the car previously? You said you replaced seals, what seals exactly? What have you had apart?   From memory when I had my RB25DET with factory throttle, there was two plugs the TPS plug on the loom could go to. One would leave the car running like shit, the other made it work, I think one plug on the TPS area was for something else (an option). It's too many years since I saw that part of the loom to remember properly though.   Is the car idling smooth (as smooth as an RB can)? Does it smell fuelled up?   I have a feeling either timing in timing belt is off, or a sensor isn't right.
    • Theres still skid pan and motokhana days up in QLD at least that are $100 or less. The ones that are ran as "driver training" less so, they're expensive, but just normal skid pan days like SAU ran are still low cost. And thats one of the places I learned to be a lariken, purely by asking for passenger rides, and how people were doing crazy things. Reese gave me plenty of pointers back in the day for skid pan! And yes Duncan, I will never forget your pointers for track work. Especially after Neil got out saying "I am NEVER getting in the car with him again!" 😛
    • 49719 is the cooler loop. Right at the front, LHS of that diagram. Return line from rack (LP side) goes to cooler loop on RHS front of car, then back under engine and returns to bottom of tank. 49717M is feed from tank to pump. HP line out of pump is thick rubber, followed by the hard line that runs down to crossmember and runs in parallel (but opposite flow direction) to the LP return line. Nothing goes anywhere near the firewall or interior of car. The closest they get to that is the connections on the rack.
    • Thanks, plan is to drain all fluid tomorrow and do smoke test to find out the leak.   Appreciate your help and want to understand how the system work. So cooling is achieved by the long loop not any rad? The diagram seems to suggest it connects to somewhere inside the cabin and I thought that is a cooler inside firewall. If you look at the diagram it seems to show it connects to something inside firewall. I tried chasing it but not easy unless I take loads off   i am confident pump is good as fluid goes in and it gets soft( steering) but as soon as I turn engine off , loads of bubble come to surface and overflow. When engine is on , fluid level is below minimum but when off it shoots off and thinking it is sucking air in. I suspect aluminium pipe may have a crack line or whole   smoke test with no fluid should be a good start and if needed will remove the pump   In addition, the one going under the engine bay is high pressure line and one directly connecting from pump to resorvoir is return/ low pressure?   finally I searched and suggestion is to use dexron 2 but that is discontinued so bought dexron 3 as all research suggest it is compatible and shouldn’t cause any issues/ blow seals. I bought two liter of dexron 3 motul atf
