Steering wheel locks

hey, i tried a search couldnt find nothing.

just wonderring how well steering locks work at doing their job? ar they easily removable without the key?

just got to thinking after 666dans car got stolen even with an alarm.

I got an alarm on my car too, and a club lock, and I rely on the clublock more to deter thieves. I also took out a few fuses so the car cant be started when my alarm stuffed up

Has anyone heard of, or had their car stolen while it was fitted with a steering wheel lock?

A steering wheel lock acts as another deterant to the theif. But to a good one that know's what there doing again it will only slow them down that little bit more.

Im one for security and i hate theifs more than anything but the truth of the matter is if they want your car there's insn't a lot you can do to stop them. Sure you can slow them down and maybe deter them but if they come back a 2nd time more prepared then whats stopping them this time???

I dont know if you sure one of the show's the other year (Today Tonight i think) there was a story on there and they rated the top 5 steering wheel locks on the market and every single one of them was able to be removed with force and persuasion and for memory the longest one was just over a minute.

Now i dont know what the new one's are like but if it can slow them down for that extra minute then its worth it in my book!!!

Having said that with a good alarm and 3 point immobiliser and additional in cabin screamer should be ebough to stop you average car theif, but ask someone in the business like Chris Rogers how easy these things are to overide to the pro's when they know what there doing.

Every little bit helps in my book and a steering wheel lock might mean the difference between your pride and joy being stolen or still there when you wake up in the morning.

My 2cents anyway and dont read to much into it at all.

i guess it could make the thief go onto the next poor buggers car (hopefully with comprehensive insurance) instead of bother wasting the extra time on ur car.

i gotta invest in one of those tracking systems.

YEAH unfortantley there not the best thing although after talking to a couple of people today that recon that they have improved but are still vunerable to a good car theif.

Get a good alarm with additional in cabin screamer and battery back up for the siren, park in well lit areas when possible and dont go around publically showing what you ahve under your hood or in ya car for starters :chairshot Asking for trouble doing that.
