I will be installing a FMIC soon but i am not too sure what to do about the stock bar that will block airflow.

What have others done to this type of bar?

Would it be better to buy a new front end or chop the one i have?

Here is a pic anyway

The bar is in the centre where the number plate hangs off

chop chop the original its easy and cut it out neatly and it looks fine ;)

heres a piccy of my stagea bumper i chopped which was fully covered in the centre area for the number plate but i removed it all and cut the support bar down behind it also :D

give it a go

air going into your front bar ..at speed.... is pretty lazy it'll go around things to get past....

fit your cooler.. see how it goes.. if your really that concerned about the exposure its getting cut up the bar or get an aftermarket one with a big inlet

thats just my opinion. coz if u can see it ..the cops can see it.

if anything ..personally i would firstly move your number plate up (drill some lower holes on the plate and screw itback in place)..and probably to start with ..remove that rib in the middle...should be fine

Matt

take the number plate off. drill holes on the bottom of the number plate, make sure they line up with the original holes just at the bottom, fit number plate back on and screw it in with the bottom holes instead of the top ones.

Have a look at Al's stock frontbar for a good example IMO.

The centre bar has been chopped off, and the panel guy used plastic from the removed section to cover the C cutout section, smooth it out and repaint the

whole bar. It looks factory and not like a DIY chop off job.

just like what rs73 said, we cut out centre bar and plastic welded the C section... also we extended the depth of the intercooler hole about 4cm to give it a better look, but if you do this (extend the depth of the hole) you will need to position the intercooler a little further back towards the radiator, and by doing this you will need to have custom cooler pipes...

as i was getting custom piping anyway i did it so i could have a different look
