I need someone who has quite a bit of knowledge with Japanese style coilovers.

In particular Kei Office coilovers.. I'm basically after the model of the coilovers I'm interested in buying (2nd hand) and their value.

The rears are apparently out of oil, so they would obviously need to be re-oiled up and there is the chance a seal has busted if the oil has leaked out.

Even possible damage to the cylinder if it has been in use with out oil.

I'm planning to take them to either Pedders (because they are closer to home) or Centre Line to get checked out, and a quote for repairs.

But just after the info on part number or model of these Kei Office Coilovers.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thank You,

Michael

They are basically worth nothing, the cost of repairing the shocks would exceed the cost of new ones. Plus the spring rates will most likely be far to high for local conditions, so you would need to buy new springs as well.:)

I know I heard so much about the Jap spring rates being to high and the ride being too stiff for aussie roads :D But it would just be so nice for a height adjustable set of coilovers for the price I could get them for. They are adjustable via soft/hard setting on the top of the shocker, you think they would still be too stiff for here?

Btw SK I fitted a set of pineapples I got from Centreline (as you suggested) and the maximum traction affect that I set the sub frame up for really takes 1st gear a lot better. i'm happy with that. Chris is a very helpful guy too.

I have second hand Kei office coil overs. The inserts are rubbish - same as most other small brand jap coil overs.

I now have Konis in the back (in the Kei office adjustable height housings) and Bilstiens in the front.

I junked the rediculous spring rates and put in king springs, so the only real remaining part of the Kei office coil overs are the hats, spring seats and bodies :P

Well I'm having the coilovers checked out tomorrow by Wesley Shocks (was recommended by CentreLine) I'll see what they say on inspection.

I'm thinking about putting some WhiteLine springs in for a more comfortable ride, although if these blokes at Wesley Shocks say they are rubbish I guess they know what they are on about.

I would get them checked out by a bike shop, they are always rebuilding shocks!

As for spring rates, it depends what you do with the car...

If you drive like you own a commodoor, want comfort of a commodoor, basically you should buy a commodoor ;-)

I am able to constanly keep up with R1's, Hyabusa's, CBR's on the old rd. As soon as they hit main straights they pull away. On the track it would be totally different! But the point of this story is that it is a lot harder (and more costly) to get that sort of performance out of a spring and shock set up.
