Me thinks turbo go bye bye

Hi all, just asking for people's opinions.....

The car has lost top end power like a mofo, feels like its not even going anywhere after like 4500-5000rpm.

There is a little oil in the intake manifold soemhow and its leaking out into the engine bay....i have taken off the intercooler piping to find a little oil inside there too....iam seriously clueless what the go is......i take off the blow off value...and there's a little oil in there....i take off the manafold....there's a little oil in the throttle body.....

oil pressure is fine, i check the oil 3 times a day and its going fine....just losing it into the bay/intake.....

have been told by a few people its called 'blow by' and could be the rings.....one other mate reckons it doesnt have all the symptoms of fried rings and its the turbo which is rooted......

i might as well mention i have had the stock s1 r33 gts-t turbo at 15 psi a couple of times for a few drags.....my bad

any of you smarties on here have any ideas?

Are you still making the same boost through the  rev range

the boost gauge tells me i am but it has a bit of a splutter and it sure as hell doesnt feel like 10psi used to.....even a commodore cold prob beat me now....

after a little while when i'd give it full stick on full boost it would feel like its going nowhere. I little extra black exhuast fairy dust on my back bumper too.

Its booked into gavin woods workshop here tomorrow so hopefuly its nothing really major....i dont mind if its the turbo, good excuse to upgrade.....i just want to know how its leaking oil into the intake pipes/manifold.

Could the fuel pump have died? Just guessing here but it may not be able to flow sufficient fuel over the 4500rpm range?

Mark

I had a 180SX that did the same thing and turned out the pump was the problem.

Had a few people look at the car, would a busted seal on the turbo cause a nice amount of oil to run thru the manifold and intercooler piping? Also the spool sounds weak as hell....

This blocked pcv problem a few of you have mentioned, is it an easy fix?

my car does that too.. and im 100% sure its my fuel pump.. im putting in a walbro as soon as i can afford it.

Do a search for posts about walbro by predator. The sock on his walbro dissolved within 6 months.

    • They should do. I have S14 (or something S chassis, anyway) driveshafts in my R32 (because my diff flanges have 3x2). They're the right length. When you go looking for R32/3/4 driveshafts (for turbos), they're all the same thing, so are the same length. So there really shouldn't be any reason why those cheapies from JJ won't also fit an R34. R32/3 NA should also be the same thing. The (3x the price) D-Max ones are uni-fit. They have 5x1 and 3x2 bolt holes and say they cover all the cars. So that would also suggest that they are all the same except for the flanges. And in that case, the flange goes both ways. I'd be buying the D-Max ones if I ever have to replace a shaft. Because that will open up diff options without needing to juggle shafts also. Juggling shafts is gay.
    • Yeah with the adaptors they do look like the photo above - just the fitment within the plenum itself and then further with the rail to the intake is questionable - we shall see tomorrow hopefully once I get some replies from Aeroflow, maybe those bosses are the missing piece....
    • Should be fine, if you have it sitting too far in, you end up just spraying the walls and have shit idle. You "can" run them like that, however I don't think it's a great idea (also depends on your plenum, might be good to just get the injector bosses first, mock it up and see if you need to get the bottom extension) Ideally your injectors, with the extension should look like this  (Not my photos, just Google)
    • Thanks for the replies guys, it's really appreciated.  It seems the kit was supposed to come with those injector bosses but hasn't. Unsure if they'll help as even with the adaptors to make them a 3/4 height injector they still sit too far out so mount the fuel rail?
    • Hello, I am looking to replace my two rear drive shafts in my R34 N/A Skyline but I'm finding conflicting information. Do S13/S14/S15 or R32 NA/ R33 NA fit? https://justjap.com/products/gsp-premium-rear-drive-shaft-l-h-nissan-silvia-s13-s14-s15-3x2-type?currency=AUD&srsltid=AfmBOoqY7EwDaYCUoUU3mxxZ_qrUXkVVHiV4MIN7ozoar6scjnEiekv- would this fit?
