The best tyres for street and strip are R rated tyres. These are street legal, but have few water channels and provide alot of tyre block in contact with the road. The compound of R rated tyres is much softer than normal tyres, giving it better traction but wear much quicker. An R rated tyre will last about 5-10,000km's of normal driving.

The Potenza R's are very good, and popular for both track and strip. Nitto's are very good, but difficult to get and very expensive.

I'd recommend the Potenza's, but just keep them for the drags, don't waste them on daily driving, unless money is not an issue.

Those tyres should provide a reasonable level of traction at your power level, but it depends more on how you launch the car. If you can slip the clutch and get the power down gradually then they should be fine, if like me you have twin plate and dump the clutch then they will not provide enough grip.

I'm getting some Potenza R's from a race car, they only have 15% tread left, not enough for racing, but plenty for drags. You will need to experiment with tyres, I run 265's at the drags and they don't provide enough traction, hence my move to the R rated tyres.

I'd experiment with some second hand tyres while at the drag strip, but normal road tyres are not as good as the R's. If you can pick some up off a race team then you can get them very cheap.
