Hey Guys just thought i would let you know how i went when i recently got my car dynoed. Mods to the car so far goes: -

R33 gtst series 1.5 1995

Pod

FMIC

Exhaust

Splitfire coils

HD clutch

Note- Stock boost

Stock ECU

Stock turbo

Next mod im about to put an apexi pfc in.

So i was wondering would i need to change the AFM as i heard they are only sposed to be rated a 300 hp there abouts.

Also i will be putting a new fuel pump bosch 040 will that make a difference in hp (sorry if thats a noob question).

Just wanted to get that out of the way instead of doing a mod then retuning then another mod and retune etc. Cheers :D

Edit Sorry about the size of the pic im having trouble with the scale.

I have to believe the figure because it was done by a ShootOut accredited workshop.

However it sounds very high for standard boost pressure (7psi) and just exhaust and cooler considering it came with 187fwkw.

Was it dyno'd in 4th gear?

Either way great result, congrats.

With regards to the upgraded fuel pump.

You should be able to install it and have no impact on your current ecu and power.

As the fuel pressure regulator will just bleed/bypass any extra fuel the new pump delivers to the fuel rail, keeping standard rail pressure.

Does sound pretty high for stock boost, stock ECU and stock turbo to be honest.

To give a comparison, my car was dynoed at 195rwkw with the following mods:

R33 SII

Power FC

Profec B (set to 12psi)

Blitz FMIC

3" turbo back exhaust (w/ hiflow cat)

K&N Panel Filter

HD Clutch

...and yes, it was also in shootout mode on a dyno dynamics dynometer.

I think the figure for my car is pretty comparable to quite a few others on here with similar mods.

Perhaps you've got one of those so-called 'freak' ECU's??? Either way, I'd be cheering if I got 189rwkw with your mods. Well done :D

Yeah i thought it was a bit high for the mods done. When he came out and told me what i got i didnt believe him i was like what horsepower or fly wheel kw's. But my guess is it is over boosting to possibly 9-10 psi. That could be intermitant(sp) yeah cos most times i can see it sit dead on 7 but twice i have i seen go higher than that.

Interested to hear what you guys think.

In regards to the dyno it was done in 4th gear.

Im interested to see what it can make with the apexi (arrived today but i wasnt home  so i have to pick it up tomorrow).

What about the afm is it still ok to keep that?

before i had the safc2 installed in my r33 i had basicaly the same mods as you.. mine did about 170kw @8psi or so (b4 the safc).. This wasnt in shootout mode though and shootout mode gives you a slightly higher result than non-shootout mode i believe.

so id say your result is about right, now hurry up and get the FC put in

I have made 195rwkw. Bleeder @ 13psi, chipped ECU, full 3" zorst.

Just remember that dynos are tuning tools and will never be able to tell you how fast the car is...

Ah from the Selectmaz dynoday. How long it take you to get your sheet?

That power seems very high for standard boost. Just chuck it on a different dyno and you will see the difference. From 2 dyno reading i have had 20rwkw difference, even though 1 was in tuning mode and the other shootout.

Nice result non the less. If it pulls hard its all good :P

I've seen plenty of cars pull 180-200rwkw.

But usually with a little more boost than standard and a fuel cut defender or SAFC.

Maybe your ecu is chipped from Japan or has a fuel cut defender spliced in somewhere?

They can make the power easy, you just have to get past the rich and retard thing that the standard ecu does.

...it seems weird to me as well..

Regardless of the power you are making, your A/F ratios are...um...pretty damn good for a stock ECU (if that is your AFR's..)

I know the 1.5's had some good learning ECU's - but its still a bit hard to swallow..

If the figure is true, i would say just by looking at that dyno that you have some sort of engine management - PowerFC, SAFC...

The graph is too perfect..

Rigga's dyno is more believable, with a chipped ECU...powerFC would iron out those dips !!

Hey Chris..

Depends on what the "chipped" ECU controls...

Seems like from your dyno that the speed limiter was removed, and that possibly the fuel and ignition timing was also modded..

It really depends on the tuner, and also tuning points available. From your sheet, too hard to do a comparison to say a power FC or SAFC..

Yeah to the best of my knowledge it is stock ecu boost etc. But when i went to get my clutch changed it had some sort of lightened flywheel unsure of type but would like to know (forgot to add that). But i doubt it would make that much difference So its possible it may have had a chip etc.

About the car pulling hard it does from a little bit then hits a flat spot (not pushing you back in your seat) this is about 2500-3500 but goes alright from then on. Maybe im expecting to much. Picked up my apexi today :). Had a talk to a tuner and he said i should invest in an avcr or some sort of boost control than runs off the power fc. Got like a bleed valve (not connected in dyno run) but he said they were crap for holding boost accurately etc. I dont know much about boost controllers show what should i get

So what sort of boost controllers you guys running and what do think of them?

About the ecu learning it was unplugged for a little while then plugged back in to do the power run. Not sure if that has anything to do with it but.
