hey

the cables fun for the $100 or so it all costs :P. Has a useful a/f meter which is pretty cool for doing alittle testing. The only problem I had though in my r33 was that with the datascan software (and others) the throttle at idle was reporting it open at 20%, and at full throttle it was reporting it was only 80% open.

I think the software was programmed slightly differantly for r33's??

There cool though, has a nice 2 fast 2 furious feel about it :P

oh ya make sure u got ur friend in the car watching the laptop while your driving

its a cable to plug into the diag connector on the r33 and you then plug it into a pc/laptop.

then you can run data logging software and/or diag software to check all the sensors, read ecu error codes and log all the stock sensors. only works with stock ecu. i still have mine but it doesnt work with powerfc

yeah the cable isnt too costly considering how neat and small it is.. better than making one up myself which would be big 'n' ugly. As for the throttle sensing, interesting, the software says it has been tested on an R33 so I would have thought it'd be more accurate than that. When i get mine i'll see what results i get.

yeah, it is kinda Fast 'n' Furious, just wish i could get a real tiny pc for it. as it is i've got a smallish notebook spare that'll do just fine. As for a mate, yeah, good idea, dont wanna crash the 'line while checking out the stats , heh. could also use the logging i suppose.

nah i dont recall any issues regarding the throttle sensor. the version of datascan i had would give runtime errors when you were using it for more than a minute or so but thats been fixed in a recent version. i got my cable and software from http://www.plmsdevelopments.com/consult_if.htm

i went to PLMS first but they are out of cables and wont have them until the end of the month, BlaZt are expecting more this thursday so they got my order, when i decide i want something, i want it YESTERDAY, heh!

theres a few other cool programs to try as well besides data scan.

conzult and calumsuit

You can download em both off the net for free.

If anyone gets a full version of conzult btw.. share her round :)

its wierd my Throttle issue.. safc2 and a few other tools report 100% at 5volts..

but ALL the software programs for the cable are reporting 80% at 4.8volts..

By the way if anyone is looking for a coupla cables theres a dude on this forum who makes em for like $75 each or something like that.

    • Due to series of unfortunate events the 32 is currently my daily. Fuel economy and jungle gym aside it has not been too bad to drive around. That was until the ol' Varex decided that ~15 years and ~8 of those years on E85 was enough. The butterfly valve separated from the motors' shaft and managed to wedge/weld its self in the closed position. the varex when rapped sounded like there wasn't any packing left in it either. New Vibrant 3" muffler was selected to go in. While it is a shame to lose the quiet mode, the new Vibrant muffler definitely gives a more mellow/rounded tone which sounds great. To me it also sounds louder than the varex was open... so there is that. sorry neighbours
    • Down shifting = Right gear, right RPM, right road speed! Try rev matching on the down shift
    • Why would you ever need to "hard change down" from 5th to 4th? Any time you're in 5th and need serious accel, you're looking to go down to 3rd or maybe even 2nd, anyway. Just treat your 30 year old gearbox with some respect.
    • Anyone else have a grinding issue changing from 5th to 4th gear. I have no issues 3rd to 4th and 4th to 5th. But the car seems to grind a little when I do 5th to 4th …    is this a common issue? Had it from the last owner. Bit annoying as I can’t hard shift down. Feels like I have to push a little to the left to get it smoother into gear.    thanks
    • I would, especially if the car has had a few start ups or short trips to move it around  But then I'm anal as fark about oil changes, as oil is cheap, and servicing is fun.....
