Does the gts 4 sport the gtr drivetrain? now that would be a nice sleeper! For some reason i'm under the impression that they only came in a 4 door... true?

Same principle, different parts.

It is generally a big pain in the bum to convert a GTS to a GTST.

Converting a GTS4 to turbo would be equally if not more painful.

Blue GT badges means NA

If only it was that simple - my NA R33 GTS25 has red badges..... At the moment the most likely theory on the Blue badge/red badge thing that I know of is that Blue = Nissan Blue stage dealer in Japan, Red = red stage dealer. And red stage = performance stuff, blue = ordinary/family stuff. So by the looks of things all turbos were sold thru red stage dealers, and the odd GTS25 was sold thru them as well.

Getting back to the point, the R33 GTS4 came in 2 and 4 door form, though the 2 door seems pretty rare, have only ever seen a couple, 4 doors are a bit more common. They are essentially a GTS25 with 4wd running gear. GTR drivetrain - same bits but not as strong AFAIK, not sure what gearbox they use but I doubt it is the same as the GTR.

I've heard of people converting R33 GTS4's using the Stagea RS4 engine (making it a GTS25T-4?!) or going for the full noise GTR conversion using a RB26DETT.

Basically the R33 GTS4 was not designed to be a performance monster, more a 'Hokkaido spec' car - many JDM models came in a low volume 4wd form for use in snowy areas, eg Hokkaido.

ive got an R32 gts4 and it has the blue badges. As most people know, the R32's are turboed.does that make mine a family day trip car still?? i dont really know of any other R32gts4's around here so i dont know what badges are on them. i believe that the R33 gts4's arent turboed as it would be getting too similar to the 33GTR's... it would be 2.5L Vs 2.6L.....were as the R32's are 2.0L Vs 2.6L, fairly big jump. if that badge thing is true, then do you know what kinda performance stuff im missing out on??

Sorry, was just generalising on what kinds of cars the red stage/blue stage dealers sell - AFAIK red stage sold GTR/300ZX's/Luxo-barges and so on, whereas blue stage sold mostly Pulsars/Maximas etc.

But I think in practice you could purchase anything in the lineup from either dealer channel, just that one specialised in the high end and the other didn't.

So your car is probably the same as any other R32 GTS4, just that it was sourced thru a blue stage dealer for whatever reason.

However this applies to cars sold in the early/mid 90's, these days red stage and blue stage carry pretty much the same lineup, and I've heard that Nissan are doing away with the difference in branding and going to a single dealer identity.

And yes, I think there was an element of trying to differentiate the GTS4 from the GTR in the R33 model that left it with a non-turbo engine.
