What is that red item?

Hi there, just curious what that red object is?.... is it a fire exstinguisher?

That panel covers the CPU, it is located in the bottom left hand corner by the passenger's seat.

my car has one of these nissan flares, it has it's own holder in passenger side footwell. haven't let it off though yet... maybe when i break down travelling through a desert

Yeah. it could be dangerous. When pulling the previously mentioned "massive doorrriiffttoo" the flare could fail, and thus not performing the "impressing your mates.." part of the plan.

I'd imagine the used by date would be there to cover the manufactures own ass, from litigation if some Japanese driver were to break down in the middle of no where (if such a place exists in Japan) and the flare failed to ignite.

yep its a flare.... my r32 didnt come with one unless some fool at the compliancing blast it off ...but the bracket is still there ... hahahaha

I wouldn't chuck it.. The fact its out of date just means that when you go to use the flare, there's a possibility it might not ignite properly. It's not going to blow up or spontaneously combust.
